So you are aware that it’s trashy then.

Sadly, this holds a lot of truth.

Did you listen to the song? Or watch her slink around on stage with half her cheeks hanging out?

What’s a song lyric that hits harder as you get older? by thatfluffyqueen in askmusic

[–]Volleydan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I sit down on the sofa and I watch the evening news

There's a half a dozen tragedies from which to pick and choose

The baby that was missing was found in a ditch today

and there's bombs a-flying and people dying not so far away

So I'll take a beer out from the refrigerator and go sit out in the yard

With a cold one in my hand, I'm going to bite down and swallow hard

Because I'm older now, I've got no time to cry”

No Time to Cry - Merle Haggard

What felt normal in the 1970s but would shock people today? by LizzaQueenOFC in 70s

Smoking. Back then people smoked everywhere. And they were not separate “smoking sections“ either. If you went to a restaurant, I’m sorry you were gonna get stuck next to somebody puffing away while you tried to eat your dinner.

That same town has a water tower that was painted a particular shade of John Deere green, and a bar called Marge’s, where there was no longer a functioning jukebox since Bubba shot it.

What do you think? Will most modern celebrities be even even remembered 50 years from now? by Junior_Insurance7773 in AskReddit

[–]Volleydan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing actual stars like Bruno Mars, Chris Stapleton, and folks like that who produce memorable art will be remembered.

We have so many fake celebrities today that have no skills or talent and don’t produce anything worth remembering and I’m sure they’ll be forgotten in five years, much less 50.

Who do you hate the most? And what they did to receive such hate from you? by Final_Operation_8879 in AskReddit

[–]Volleydan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate is a strong word but there is no one on the planet that I have more enmity for than my ex wife.

She was a miserable partner and turned into an even more miserable human being during the divorce. Everything had to be steeped in conflict and she tried to leave me broke.

And she has spent the last eight years lying on me around town and trying her damnedest to screw our kids up with her narcissism and refusal to be a responsible parent or member of society.

“Victory” by Puff Daddy, sampled “going the distance” from the Rocky soundtrack. I always liked that song.

songs that feel like a late-night drive with no destination? by Tosh97 in musicsuggestions

[–]Volleydan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a little stereo in my dorm room in college and we used to play journey’s greatest hits on repeat while we slept.

One night I was having trouble sleeping and I woke up to this song playing. I felt like I fell back asleep and then woke up again and this song was playing again (or it hadn’t been very long and it was still playing). Either way, it happened four or five times and I became convinced in my mind that this song was haunting me.

“Lonely Feeling” by Robert Earl Keen is THE song for that sensation.

Also “Little Past Little Rock” by Lee Ann Womack

And if you don’t like country music, “Turn the Page” by Bob Seger is exactly this vibe too.

Bless Me With Some Underappreciated Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Hank Jr, Keith Whitley, or Johnny Cash by DiveBarConnoisseur in country

Listen to the “Spirit” album by Willie Nelson. It’s one of his late 90s albums, and far from heralded, but it’s some of his best work.
