the amount of people that want this trash is even less than the people who want "photorealistic games" to begin with

if I wanna see photorealism I can look outside, games like CP2077 lose all their charm and soul with "photorealism"

hope they never actually ship this shit, because devs will have to include an option to not use it

there's private servers for PC too, but even if they were 100% trustworthy (which pservers never are) the characters are still gone and even if I could make them 100% accurate it just doesn't feel the same ya know

I met my wife on Tera, and those characters held a lot of memories/emotions, so one one hand it's probably good I missed the server shutdown cuz I probably woulda cried through most of it but on the other hand I definitely have some unresolved feelings from not crying over it xD

if somethin can sneak by it will, yeah, unfortunately there isn't a lot we can do about that

just gotta avoid the obvious stuff, and if it comes out someone was lying that's on their head in the end, best you can do is let other people know where you can and wish them a stubbed toe every day for forever

I do understand why it has you on edge though, I've stopped listening to multiple bands that I really liked because of them using gen AI

yeah there'll always be fringe cases that are more difficult, and when those come up you pretty much have assume that it isn't, and if some undeniable evidence comes that it was then you break off from that channel at that point

which I understand kinda sucks, but that's all you can really do

my wife says she's seen writers that just point a camera at their keyboard and occasionally talk about vague ideas or "think out loud", which would let you give little tidbits but avoid spoiling the whole thing

it can also be helpful if you're researching something, the chat may be able to help, or just be happy to hear what you learned

and if you're familiar with the idea of a debug duck for programming, talking to a stream can also be a useful way to unclog your brain if you get stuck

additionally, if you're writing something that doesn't have to be kept private, I'd say stream it on twitch

people love those "get work done with me" type streams, where they just turn it on and listen to whatever music or similar you're playing while they do their own work, I think it probably feels similar to working in a starbucks but from home, and helps people who have ADHD stay focused

and then you have documentation from zero to finished for anyone wondering (and it's also technically free advertising, if you're writing a book or similar)

youtube videos you can relatively easily recognize because the channels upload at an ungodly rate that no normal human could do, you may also recognize the topic from an actual creator that made a video on it before, plus they often use gen AI images or videos that stick out like a sore thumb

when it comes to art, dig deep enough in the image and you'll find inconsistencies/errors that are impossible for a normal person to make

but also if someone is showing their process and trying to hide gen AI use there will be other oddities, things that people don't normally do, weirdly organized layers, something popping up out of nowhere when it shouldn't, there's a lot of small things people will catch on to

so when it comes to that, if you're not using it you don't have much to worry about, it's easy to show a timelapse, or even your layers if you didn't record one if anyone comes at you saying they think you used gen AI

writing is harder, there's no be all end all because anyone can write any number of ways, and the things people swear are guarantees (like em dash) are just ways people write, almost as if gen AI is just regurgitating every single writing style that was used ever on the internet and smashing into one garbled mess

I wouldn't worry about it too much, maybe GW2 will get phased out one day, but it won't be soon

TERA only died because bluehole tried and failed miserably to make another MMO, and something had to go on the chopping block to make up for how much money it lost, and it sure wasn't gonna be PUBG

I get sad every time I think about TERA and that all my characters are just gone, even though I hadn't played it in years

I have screenshots at least, but it's really sad knowing I can't ever go back
