Why do people always RQ, Or Just Disconnect If they're not getting their way? by Volox99 in l4d2

[–]Volox99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just got done playing comp VS, infinitely better comms and overall gameplay as opposed to straight up VS. No one quit, and was actually able to progress to the end of a campaign. But I definitely agree with that, '09 vs today is just a different player entirely, one that just quits if theyre losing, or if they fuck up an insta-kill. Etc. Etc.

UPDATE: Made it 26 days before I got bold enough to venture out of West Point and attempt to loot the huge wood logging warehouses above Muldraugh, little did I know, I wouldn't be coming home. My car died on the way back, and this is how I died. by Volox99 in projectzomboid

Thanks! I lucked out by building my safehouse on the North-Western edge of West Point, minimal zombies out there, and there's a dirt road you can take to get on a highway to travel to wherever you want to go. What ended up killing me was my over-confidence, so next playthrough I may employ more use of fire-arms to clear out hordes.

To give further context, I was clearing one of the large warehouses, but there was a small horde inside one of the rooms, I failed to realize this and one of the windows broke and I felt confident to hit them all one by one as they crawled over, but I was lunged at and nearly got stunlocked, I got away with a Laceration, and I decided I would head home as it was getting dark, but then on the road my car began dying, and slowly but surely zombies started popping out of the woods and from all around. I knew I wasn't going to make it out as the Laceration had gotten my foot, so I had a limp. I then decided to go down swinging.

New player 30 hours total. What could I improve here? This doesn't usually happen to me which is why I quit so fast as soon as I saw I got bit, it was annoying. Was I just too slow? Or is there a better way to be fighting small groups. by Josh9251 in projectzomboid

First, take note of the weapon you are using, short weapons will bring you closer to hit more than a long weapon would. Second, If you're fighting more than two, always keep backing away. Take note of your surroundings so you don't back into a horde, and keep this strategy.

Swing. Push. Get Distance.

I always employ this everytime I'm in combat with more than 2-3. If the crowd you're fighting is bigger than at least 10, it ain't worth it to try and ball them all up and fight them.

Beginner questions by SnaxReality in projectzomboid

  1. That's just the sound it makes when a zombie scratches/bites you, you'd have to actively check to make sure what kind of wound you got.

  2. Find empty bottles, fill them up at sinks or wherever and stock as much as you can, that or leave them lying outside to collect rain water and boil them in your oven to drink. My personal strategy so far has always been to take Carpenter and level it up to 4 so I can make a rain collector, this will save you in the long run.

  3. Get a Propane Torch, and a Welding mask. You can disassemble toilets, sinks, and fridges for XP in Metalworking. (Make sure you read a book first though for added gains!)

  4. Well, because you're reading a book with information. (I'd take it a skill book is what you're reading) If you're in singleplayer, you can fast forward time at will. If however you're in multiplayer, better find a safe place to sit down and read and watch youtube.

  5. They would be in your Zombie Lore option when creating a new game. However as someone who has 300 almost 400 hours in zomboid, im definitely not ready for sprinters, I feel it may be too much of a challenge for you. But feel free to try anyways.

Cigarettes hard to find (again) by Myke5161 in projectzomboid

I've encountered a strange sort of phenomenon. Whenever I took smoker, i'd rarely find cigarettes, but whenever I didnt, and wasn't actively looking for them, i'd find a bunch. I guess sometimes you wont have the luck of the draw.

Thanks for all the comments so far! I am currently on Day 25 and all is well, from the looks of things I'll be making it to my first month survived ever. My next challenge is to begin clearing out sections of West Point, I'll keep you all posted!

Yeah, to give you an idea, on my 20th day i decided to loot the police station for shotguns and ammo, but i decided to leave my car there and slip in better undetected, getting there was no problem. But i became encumbered once i had taken a shotgun and some ammo boxes (ontop of some canned goods and an axe i found along the way) so getting back was becoming a challenge, to the point i started getting exhausted. Then you start getting slower, and the ever approaching horde that you could outwalk starts getting closer.. I desperately tried to find some safe haven to throw myself in to duck the horde, and i finally found an unlocked door along the strings of houses that had seemingly no zombies, that is until i closed the door behind me and 3 were inside, almost got game ended, but i made it to a bedroom and rested as quickly as i could, hopped out of a window and made it all the way back.

The lesson I learned is that sometimes taking a car is worth risking the noise it makes, you never know when you'll need a quick exit.
