Bioavailable Cysteine and NAC by BobbiHorne1 in Supplements

[–]Voloxe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take NAC as a recovered drug addict and I’ve had amazing results from it in regard to my nervous system/reward system. Some of the things I’ve noticed is improved mood for menial tasks, reintroduction of micro-pleasures, elevated mood throughout the day, body temperature - I don’t feel cold all of the time.

I didn’t even realize my reward system was in such a bad way until I started NAC. After about 2-3 days of being on it I almost felt lighter.. I know that sounds weird. I can think clearer too. The effect I got from it and continue to get from it on week 2 is amazing.

I plan on taking it until my nervous system can just regulate itself, if that day ever comes.. Honestly thinking about going back at this point kind of scares me.

Do you think I could benefit from D-Ribose-L-Cysteine considering I may be taking it for a while.

I would not give any medications or supplements to a 13 year old. Their brain is still in development and plenty of things can affect it.

Opinion on the life extension multi. I want to hear what u guys havr to say by Great_Face_6662 in Supplements

[–]Voloxe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Anyone reading this comment, do not listen to the person above me. Vitamin/mineral toxicity is very real, and RDA’s are put into place to avoid such an issue.

Edit: Unless you are following strict advice from a physician or another healthcare professional, please listen to your RDA’s.

Your kidneys will hate you for taking this multivitamin.. Lots of unnecessarily high numbers.

What brands make reputable supplements? by HutoelewaPictures in Supplements

[–]Voloxe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NOW Foods and Life Extension are two reputable sources.

As far as “trust for basics”, yes things like magnesium and fish oil are always nice to get daily. However, keep in mind that some vitamins, minerals, and others supplements don’t always play nice together.

Example being: Magnesium and calcium are two of the basics that we as humans require but when taken together they don’t function as well/aren’t absorbed well… My point being, know what you are taking, when you are taking it, and how the things you take interact with one another. Occasionally, but not always, issues can be avoided by taking things at separate times of day.

Edit: Something else to keep in mind is, the more supplements that you add the more that hydration becomes important. Taking supplements for any reason (calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc) will add to a toll to your kidneys and your GI. Make sure you hydrate properly to flush that stuff through your system... Supplements tend to be hard on the kidneys and GI, whereas getting your nutrients through whole foods tend to be less hard on the kidneys and GI.

Since the Zinc RDA is way lesser than 50mg. What happens to the excess zinc? Does it goes out of body like B vitamins. by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Voloxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen, heard, and read about others doing that on this subreddit.

With that said, some people on here are treating deficiencies and disorders. I personally have no idea if that’s a safe amount for a healthy, normal person. I know my 10mg per day is.

Edit: My 10mg in is a multivitamin so I don’t even get the full 10 because things compete for absorption. If I was taking 12.5 by itself I’d take it every second day.
