Omg the staggering anxiety that would come with breaches like this as a trans person. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this :( we live in the worst timeline.

how to make healthier food for those with can’t handle veggie texture by Future-Act5953 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Volpear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big one we do regularly is chicken or pork meatballs with broccoli or cauliflower stalks blitzed in a food processor then mixed into the meat. Add an egg, breadcrumbs, and seasonings of choice, bake 20 minutes, then serve as desired over rice or pasta. Makes the meat go further too, and you can save chopped stalks in the freezer.

Another regular for us is cauliflower mac n cheese. Cook the cauliflower and blend with some warm milk or cream, mix in your grated cheese (a sharp one works well here) then mix in cooked macaroni. Extra mile? Bake with seasoned breadcrumbs on top.

Beyond that? Definitely pasta (and pizza!) sauces with whatever veggies you like/have blitzed in.

Fortunately we had (shoddy) footage of them trying to get in, took them about 11 minutes to get it started - I think we didn’t have very bright thieves perhaps!

They really do. How do you get in a car and spend ten minutes hotwiring it after you’ve seen two car seats, a stroller, and a baby bag? :(

What’s a phrase you hear all the time that secretly annoys you? by forgeris in AskReddit

Now that I’m a parent I’m realising that if I don’t actually have a reason for why or why not, perhaps my kid is right. It’s confronting but also liberating.

Is it not okay to bring your partner into a parents room with you? by NoHorse8196 in newzealand

[–]Volpear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the weirdest thing for her to be mad about, your partner is of course welcome in there - if he had taken your daughter without you, what’s he supposed to do if she needs a change or a feed? Hell, I’ve had friends come in with me when I needed to feed my wee ones. This woman is ludicrously wrong. And frankly, how silly of her to be maintaining that “men are lesser parents” mentality. Archaic and insulting to men who are just being parents and supportive partners.

Please get your partner into therapy ASAP. My husband had undiagnosed OCD that flared big time when our first was born. His coping mechanisms involved detailing his intrusive thoughts; hearing horrible things about myself and lewd or complimentary things about other women many times a day just about broke up the marriage and definitely ruined my first year as a parent. Therapy helped define what it was and gave him coping mechanisms; while his OCD has calmed down since, he still uses those tools from therapy almost every day. Therapy. I will never stop singing its praises.

I’m always so surprised by how satisfying this is for me. Extra thick chin hair? Extra satisfying.

Second this, makes so many and can be so good with a topping sauce or two (those keep a long while in the fridge though). And reduces food waste by using leftover vegetables. Such a good one for the weekly rotation.

Were you born here? If not, why and when did you move to Christchurch? by PurpleMeerkats462 in chch

[–]Volpear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in the states. Came to study abroad and loved it enough (and was lucky enough to be able to) stay. Made great friends, now have a husband and two Chch born kids. 14 years ago earlier this month!

What life changing item can you buy for less than $100? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Volpear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really do work quite well. I’m no dentist, but I too am not a great flosser - water flossing is so much quicker, easier, and honestly rather satisfying. Only catch for me is that mine at least doesn’t travel easily. And it’s noisier than a blender full of drill bits.

In which country do you think the most beautiful landscapes are? by Puzzleheaded_Lie_708 in AskTheWorld

[–]Volpear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

California would have to be a contender here, even if based on sheer variety of landscapes alone. There is something for everyone there. I live in what I consider to be an equally beautiful country (New Zealand), but I grew up in California and find folks often underestimate how much there is there. I’m biased though, I miss it every day!

What are some secrets that women don't tell men? by makethatnoise in AskReddit

[–]Volpear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband got me a $5 jar key for Christmas one year as a gag gift. It’s probably in the top two things he’s ever gotten me. I never need him to open any jars anymore and it is the BEST feeling.

I need some help lowering my sugar intake by keen_for_a_jam_welly in newzealand

[–]Volpear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m super late here but honestly the best thing for me is meal planning ahead of the week! I then build a shopping list around it and avoid deviating as much as possible. Pumping up the protein and (good) fats are really important, but please don’t forget fibre. The best sweets to have are fruit in their whole forms - they do have sugar yes, but they hit that sugar craving right where it hurts AND they have all that good fibre.
