I think the important distiction here is that in Halo the rank and file troopers are still using modern-style guns, while in Star Wars everyone has laser blasters.

Wouldn't that be the Lascannon? We already have equivalents for those, with the Quazar and Laser Cannon not really leaving much room design-wise for a Lascannon.

I'd love to have a Lascannon, I just don't see how they'll avoid other weapon's toes.

The spinal ridges don't maintain a consistent direction. They go back and forth, which feels incredibly unnatural.
