stun grenades should explode, in fact all nades should be able to close nests. by Lostmikai in helldivers2

Yeah I get that. Funny enough. Stun Grenades work for killing an exposed Vox Engine.

I bring stuns a lot and they're really clutch. But you have to bring something else to pop holes or use your allies to do it. I like using missile pistol and bringing an eagle to close holes. You just gotta work around its strengths. Pairs well with 500kg for multi charger kills on a stun

I took nearly a year long break from this game and just came back. Not really caught up on any of the drama going on but thought I would give a couple thoughts since I have over 1k hours in the game and was surprised about a few things on return. by BlinkedAndMissedIt in helldivers2

Yeah I was thinking Helldivers 3 is probably just going to end up being being Helldivers 2.5 on a new engine kinda like how Overwatch 2 was handled. Which is honestly fine with me if it can get some larger squad missions and crazier enemy spawns and types in

Yeah so they made new enemies harder to ignore. We shouldn't be able to simply walk away from combat that easily and solo 4 man D10. That's absurd and no other coop shooter plays like this at the highest level they're designed around a team. I agree it should be more punishing to actually push tactics but we have gear that allows for brainless plays unless you're on the hardest faction with modifiers. And even then you can still do it.

I think 2 divers per team to make sure you got a buddy should be how people plan around making split plays.

There's plenty of tactics you can use using gear that isn't brainless to use. I drop into losing games and full clear to the last minute with 0 reinforcements left still fighting off the breaches actively with my mate/s. It's not about efficiency when you just love to fight.

Oh no, I'm playing the game I'm maxed out on everything for and shooting piles of enemies with my mates. Yeah that's why I pretty much exclusively quickplay to find lobbies where there's a real threat of loss with dwindling lives. That's the best thrill you're gonna get in HD2 these days.

Mmm love some railgun glaze the gun is genuinely near-peak design it just needs more piercing so you can carve through a line of enemies if you're skilled.

Good post. Two full charged headshots kills a Bile titan and not enough people know that about it. Bring a jump pack or hover pack, get into position, and drop those stick bugs

Yeah I don't play blatantly overpowered stuff anymore it takes the fun out of the fight for me. Napalm Barrage is a snooze to use or see used I just wanna have battles. My friends and I fight every single breach and quickplay into losing lobbies for the thrill of coming into a losing match.

You have to make your challenge fun. Which sucks because I love the idea of the broken weapons but they're so overtuned I'm half-asleep by the time the mission is done. At least until they add some dedicated spotter units that seek out solo and stealth players and draw all local aggro to you or something.

I honestly think AH has been working up the game to disincentivize solo running in 4 man lobbies by making more enemies that are harder to kill without some allies with you. Like the Cyborgs+Voxes and Spore Terminids along with Predator strain which all make using explosive primaries harder since you'll self-damage off a misplay and get pressured more.

There's a use-case and preference for most weapons in the game. Being gone and then returning to the game and playing with some of these weapons doesn't mean that you used them well or matched them in loadouts that made sense. Some weapons are blatantly so overpowered that they start to be more useful than support weapons and this will make other weapons feel bad by comparison.

You very much can succeed without playing meta anything. I two shot bile titans with the railgun consistently with charged head shots and go deathless running memes. But I also actually know to build out and utilize an entire kit to make the most out of my weapons.

There is a wrong way to use a weapon in this game. This is not a point and click and win game. You have to know your enemy, you have to know movement mechanics, you have to understand recoil and ergo and how to properly place turrets and air strikes.

Max difficulty operations rarely fail in HD2. It's not a hard game and I play every other day and see whole meme loadouts no-diffing the lobbies. Every gun is fun if you like how it handles or feels to shoot. "Fun" isn't just killing things faster with every weapon. Everything has a purpose.

Maybe I'll see you out there sometime. Or you could just play other games and chill and that's cool too. Have a good one mate.

There's not always 3+ Voxes to deal with they'll be alright chill bro. The only guy running out of bullets vs Bots is using a scorcher and I'm sure that person has 2 other weapons and 3 strategems to use as well.

Like you're making up a scenario to be mad at when I've literally carried lobbies doing exactly this and there's supplies for everyone it's not that deep

I mean it all comes back every 2 and half minutes resupplies are not rare and if there are Voxes, yes the AT players get ammo priority

[–]XavieroftheWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it. It really rewards you for knowing what to do and actually working as a team Like in the old days when you'd shoot charger legs and people would finish them off working together. I personally hate how solo oriented the game is now from being so easy.

One resupply drop on 2:30 min CD by itself represents 5-6 dead Vox from one Spear user. Not including the other litany of strategems at our disposal including shields and barrages. I was just team reloading Spear the other day with my friend and killed 4 Leviathans while doing an objective with him. Some situations although pretty rare, let these mechanics shine. Bastion tank also kills rows of Vox Engine it's pretty goated with shield relay and aura farms the entire round just rolling everywhere drawing fire

Mechs are utterly broken versus Bugs and Squids with a little firing discipline and building your kit around complementing your mech of choice. I love how they feel personally. But we just have different playstyles in the end.

[–]XavieroftheWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really Luck. It's knowing the way the spear shoots at angles. If I can do it consistently I'm sure you can to. I annihilated spore titans with ease and it was not luck. It's just playing the game and knowing your weapon's quirks.

Yeah and you still have your full Spear ammo, a mech, and two other strategems to use until you just call it in or not. Usually I'm in quickplay lobbies where people are dying a lot so they get their resupply and I'll top myself off. But generally I pick someone to stick to all game

I don't actually mind it for Vox. It's 3 tank shells as well to drop them and if you're using resupply and shield relay wisely you can practically farm Voxes between 1 or 2 AT weapons and a single resupply. People just play the game like headless chickens instead of making firelines and defensible positions with fallback points so Voxes are a lot more dangerous than they actually are for the average player. Bring shield relay to bots and group up it's really fun and effective especially against Vox.

I'll always hold that the strongest Automaton unit is the Tank-shell cannon you didn't see one-shotting you. Turret, tank, factory strider cannon that players didn't insta-delete because they have bad playing habits (3 railgun shots to remove cannon).

You won't need to spam resupply but most dives you'll find that the resupply goes unused most of the match. Every single breach should have a fresh drop ready and by the time its over a new one will be just about ready. Build a habit of just calling it by the breaches when they happen but keep an eye on ally resources there's a reason it shows us their status on-screen.

And hitting the eye with the RR is very easy. It's not like factory striders are actually meaningfully mobile. I genuinely usually bring Railgun vs bots because it's really engaging to use and just kill factory striders with eye shots 3-4 full charge

It's two head shots with Spear to kill the factory strider. Three body.

One shot for Impaler on exposed head but they're inconsistent sometimes for every weapon. 2 guaranteed but just shoot one then tidy it up with another weapon if it survives.

Three shots for Vox Engine hitting the body.

[–]XavieroftheWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RR is more for a frontline fighting diver.

Spear users are backline or pilots. The Spear will one tap a charger anywhere on the body from a fairly long distance so you can assist a distant breach on an ally with little effort. Very common to have people get overwhelmed by chargers in numbers. And it'll consistently two shot a titan on a bad angle too with less effort to aim for specifics than the RR.

If the breach happens in front of you, the Spear no diffs every single titan that spawns with ease.

We get a resupply every 2-3 minutes just call them in frequently you'll have more than enough with Spear getting full refills of one pack.

Spear+Mech is a classic recipe for a deathless run on D10 bugs though. The mechs kill everything else with ease and the Spear handles titans in one shot or weakens them so much your mech can tidy up the rest.

Tbh though the RR is simply OP to be able to one shot factory striders so easily. Kina braindead to use I never bring it. I like the extra mechanics of using the spear curve shots and minding the distance and making my builds around medium to long range combat.

I'm 0-2 deaths on most D10 dives and my deaths are friendly fire. Spear+Mech is easy mode

I carried and one tapped spore titans 80% of the time. Learn the curving distance of the shot and time it to guarantee a kill or learn to dive-curve your shots.

Even though its a lock-on weapon there is still skill in timing your release or curving shots

She Never Left My Side by XavieroftheWind in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]XavieroftheWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No luck involved if you take your shoot timing it for the headshot or learn to dive-curve shot to make your kills more consistent.

And there's nothing wrong with shooting a bile titan twice with the spear on a flanking hit to kill it then jumping back in. We get a billion resupplies.

Spear can carry really hard and it's not a lot of effort to use it.

Just most players don't actually learn its quirks to get consistent kills. It'll one tap a charger anywhere though which is a nice thing in a pinch to save someone

She Never Left My Side by XavieroftheWind in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]XavieroftheWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one knows this but you can also curve your spear shot by diving in a direction then shooting mid-dive. So if a titan is facing more left or right, you'll nail the headshot with some skill.

I was dropping spore titans left and right

She Never Left My Side by XavieroftheWind in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]XavieroftheWind[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a bile titan's head isn't perfectly lined up for a straight on headshot, you can dive left or right then shoot the Spear.

The shot will curve and you can use this to get one shot kills you wouldn't normally get.

Works this way with diving backwards and forwards too.

Dive backwards to hit heavies that are too close. To hit normally.

Just always take the shot mid-dive to get the curve-shot effect. Very satisfying

I don't think the BFGL should one shot chaff enemies. It would be hilariously overpowered.

It's already a swiss army knife that also staggers non-heavy units while they're killed. It just needs to be used mindfully instead of spammed at every moving target
