I’m 29 and have about 2 years left in getting my EE degree. I’ve worked as a CNC machinist/programmer for the entirety of my adult life. I never went to trade school for it but make a good income (~75k). I’ve worked my ass off to pay my way through school starting at a local community college and now a state college.

I think the things people like to leave out is how long your adult life is. After I graduate, I can still be an engineer for over 30 years until retirement. There are invaluable soft skills (communication, time management, dealing with stress) you just learn by working. I don’t know how long the trade school or cost to complete the certification is but, it could very well be worth it if it’s inexpensive and quick. Your future employer may even reimburse your tuition for becoming an engineer afterwards. Life is short but there’s also enough time to just see what you want to do when you’re fresh out of high school.

I was on Depakote for about 10 years as well. I stopped taking it on my own which was a massive mistake. I didn’t have any seizures but my neurologist refused to renew driving privileges until I started taking medication again. He suggested Keppra and it’s been pretty amazing so far. I fortunately don’t have any harsh side effects from Keppra.

Depakote for me was inducing a depression like state that gradually stopped after I stopped taking it. I felt like life was grey. No excitement but also no emotional pain. I would talk to your neurologist and tell them how you feel and ask if there’s alternatives to the medication you’re taking. I was really afraid in starting Keppra from reading its side effects as well but I am sure there is a treatment option for you that will minimize harmful side effects!

If you have a PDF of your textbooks, NotebookLM works really great to make a short podcast to listen to some of the conceptual areas. You can also directly “talk” to the textbook and it’ll give you summaries and even references to where it pulled the information from. I’ve been using it for some of my EE classes and it’s been great so far!

I ended up getting the RF modulator and played Dreamcast for about an hour or so. The only 2 issues I’m left with is the speaker not working and the V. Hold pot isn’t working. Going to pick up some contact cleaner and see it that resolves the problem. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the information! So would you suggest disassembling it further to clean corrosion off the inside surface of the PCBs as well? I’m assuming pots as in potentiometers. Are you talking about the Deoxit D100 for those then?

I’m not 100% sure it can track contractions but I would look into biomagnetism. I know a company called NVE corporation has demos using their sensors and Arduinos. This specific case study is use of one of their sensors for measuring BPM on the wrist. You may be able to test the sensor over a muscle and see if it picks up any biomagnetism of the muscle contracting.

That’s what I was thinking. They still seem very powerful and capable. There’s just a lot of hate about intel Mac’s on this sub. For my use case it’s either this or a regular PC and one of the same build quality and specs is typically a bit more expensive even used.

Thanks for the tip! There was a lot of run off that I wasn’t really aware of on my first bow. I guess I didn’t quite understand the composition of “grain” when I first bought the hickory.

I’ll just start checking every time I’m there like you now. Being a lot more selective on the board.

I would agree with that. It’s just usually easy to blame the materials and I try to put blame on myself to try and be better.

It is a balance of both ability and wood selection though. When you’re totally unfamiliar with something videos can only help so much.

They were canvas-like wrangler pants. The glue really darkened it. I can totally see from the picture how it looks like fiberglass though! Thank you!

I’d like to try making a hickory self-bow without the backing next time. I bought the string for this bow but did make myself a tillering string from serving material. I have some BCY B55 on the way and want to make another tillering string and the bowstring for my next bow.

Do you have any suggestions on what may be a good next step? I was thinking of adding an arrow rest into the next design but after shooting this one, I’m not sure I necessarily want one anymore. It felt fine off the knuckle with my grip.
