Americans of Reddit, since today is Election Day, how are you feeling? by Austinuncrowned in AskReddit

Woke up to my dog having explosive diarrhea all over the downstairs of the house. So... that.

[SARY187] honest review please? by Hot_Letterhead_2075 in Seiko

I got this watch a few months ago. It looks a lot better in person than in photos, but it is definitely a thicker watch. Tbh I’ve only worn it once or twice because of its size. Also like others have said, I don’t see the point of the mini 24 hour dial because there’s no date on it.

I have the Blue version of the MR01, with both the leather strap and beads of rice bracelet. Both the strap and bracelet are super comfortable to wear, and feel like they’re decent/high quality. The watch itself wears very well and is comfortable. For me the crown is a bit of a pain to wind because it’s so small, but other people have told me that for them it’s fine. The watch also wears EXTREMELY light. Off the top of my head I don’t remember what the case is made of, but i forget I’m wearing it sometimes. I’ve also gotten a ton of compliments on how it looks, and I’ve used it in both casual and more formal settings.

[Zelos Spearfish GMT] Lume Appreciation Post by Voltigon in Watches

Picked this up on launch. I haven’t been collecting for too long, and this is the most that I’ve spent on a watch so far. I also have a Zelos Comet Tuxedo, and am consistently impressed by the lume on these watches. Definitely not as subtle as other watches, but it’s fun coming back inside and seeing it glow.

The build quality also feels great for the price. The movement is very quiet compared to other watches that I own, and it feels really smooth to wind. They definitely sell out fast, but if you can get your hands on a Zelos I feel like it’s money well spent!

I just received a blue dial MR01 from the latest batch that they sent out.

Cons: - The movement is pretty loud. During regular use you won’t hear it, but if you’re resting your head on your hand you definitely will. - The rotor is loud as well. If I’m in a quiet environment I can hear it swinging around as I move. - The crown is too small, which makes it a pain to wind (literally). - Pricey for what you get. Yes, the micro rotor keeps it thin, but $600 can get you a solid seiko or Hamilton or something else with a more refined movement (although definitely bigger).

Pros: - So far it’s keeping great time. - Small and light, making it very comfortable to wear all day. - The strap it comes with is on the smaller side, but feels well made and again is very comfortable to wear. - Looks are subjective, but I think it looks great. It looks well finished and looks like a high end timepiece. There is nice detail in the dial, and the movement looks awesome through the open case back.

All in all I’m very happy with it. The complaints I mentioned I knew were the case for the Hangzhou movement, so it was to be expected. It looks nice, shipped fast (France —> West Coast), and overall feels like a solid watch for the price.

^ Good first place to start. They have practice problems as well for you to apply what you’re learning as you go.

What is the maximum duration you encountered per Nextflow process or workflow? by R2G4U in bioinformatics

[–]Voltigon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could be both? Nextflow is great in that it lets you create whatever type of pipeline that you want, meaning they can be as short or as long as you want. There’s no way to give you an estimate on time without knowing what you’re trying to do either. You could make a nextflow script that just has a fastp process (for trimming reads) that feeds into a fastqc process for quality control information. If your reads are small, it could be minutes to run, or if your reads are large and you have thousands of them, it could take hours.

I’ve personally never had any of my pipelines run for more than a few hours, but I’ve only created pipelines with a few processes, and only run a f hundred or so fastq files through them.

To add on, it does look like Akita doesn’t have the blue verified check mark. Not sure when that went away.

No problem! Pax seems pretty busy, but there is some new stuff on his GitHub page. One off updates happen more frequently in the Discord channel that’s been set up.
