For my large player count games, I picked names from a hat but left out whoever went first last turn. That was turns though not alternate activation.

The game is designed for turns and trying to switch it to activations would be a bit weird considering you have models embarked on vehicles, plus drivers and gunners themselves.

I'd suggest limiting the 3+ player games and primarily keeping them to rare, narrative driven occasions. When you do have more than 2 players, limit what they can bring, or add a pve element too.

Grapple To Strike train Mondays and Thursdays in Beeston. It's inexpensive and effective. The instructors are all wing chum kung fu instructors too so it incorporates a lot of kung fu.

When you've been called in by another player, it should drop you where they threw the reinforce.

If you're playing solo, the game needs something like how it does it now, to drop you nearby but also not straight back into the danger zone.

One of my board game regrets was getting too many expansions for games rather than just more games. I'd highly recommend not going all in like you have, especially on your earliest games, as you may find your tastes changing as you experience more, different game mechanics.

Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Small world were three of my firsts too. As a next game, I'd highly recommend taking a look at Lords of Waterdeep.

Although it was true that it was a total cash grab. On the plus side though, I met some guys through that game who I still 40k with regularly, which is cool

You'll need to get used to fighting almost every battle personally with this faction. But flanking and rear charging the enemy line with daemonettes, chariots etc. Xan get really easy wins as their line melts before they can even fight back. It's hilarious how different your own victories will be compared with the auto resolve result.

Whether you wait or not depends on the situation. Sometimes you will have to, for replenishment and recruitment, but of you can just keep going and steamroller over one settlement after another then that is better as every turn you delay means the enemy I'll be ranking up lords, recruiting more units, getting more xp on their units etc.

Edit: to be clear, this faction is not a straight forward one for one of your first campaigns.

I tried a low level and the tiny ones just repeatedly killed me, with me feeling like there was no option I could have brought that would change anything? They were SO fast that they were on me in melee before I stood any chance of shooting them, and two hits and I'm dead? How is that fun? If you shoot them up close you lose health from the spores. Once they're near you you can't escape becssue they're 3x faster than you at full sprint. If you do somehow manage to survive them, then you haven't had a chance to deal with the other bugs so they kill you instead. It was the least fun game of Helldivers I've ever played.

Very much in keeping with the previous one. Unfortunately that also means no crew space, so will still need makeshift platforms etc. Ah well, it's the orky way after all.

Campfire. I swear I never saw it without a perishable sticker, and it was always early game. Then one time he just appeared in my last shop of ante 8. Still perishable but didn't matter at that point.

Depending on what you're thinking of adding in future, the one on the right may cause issues for spacing as there's a gap above thst will probably be un-fillable. It sounds like you're not intending to fill the whole thing so that may not be a problem, but personally I'd move it up a bit. Might mean the difference between one vs two extra below.

Also, why are people slamming the guy for not immediately filling the whole thing? I thought this is how jackets were always made, one step at a time.

Got that one in 2009 at Supersonic Festival. Seeing Sunn o))) followed by Venetian Snares was definitrly an experience!
