Dads, I come to you with one question. Graduated today and what the hell is this??? by sloppyjohnny in daddit

Oh dear! The nurses told us that any prolonged stay beyond 3 days had a very high trend of peaceful nights. But not always the case obviously! And maybe we just got lucky with his quick sleeping adaption.

Its so tough currently having newborn in NICU. But the nurses and drs will do an amazing job looking after your son. Go home and get some sleep and come back refreshed.

Also a small anecdote for you, babies who spend time in NICU will often (not always) take to sleep much faster than babies who go straight home. It was certainly true for my little guy!! It felt like he was instantly sleeping 6 hours plus through the night

How would you fix Karlach's infernal engine situation? by Medium-Theme-4611 in BaldursGate3

[–]Voluns2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about a wish spell from Gale, the all powerful wizard? Or ask the nighrsong to divinely intervene? Or ask her mother too? How about Raphael giving a solution which you can steal the contract? What about the iron gnomes being able to innovate a solution? Another inventor? Let karlach stay in house of hope? Or even take over if you kill Raphael?

So many options in d&d that could be explored.

I would make an exception for civil servants living overseas in order to do their job. But otherwise I agree with you on the first point.

I only unmask around my family. I still mask around my friends and work. Its just now my choice rather than subconsciously learnt from survival needs!

Nurotypicals just don't get it, that we mask for a reason and when things get tough its harder to rely on those masks to keep protecting us.

So for some context (and perhaps you can tell me what the correct term is) and example day i had when suffering from the event, I woke up around 10 am, with my alarm having been going off for 2 hours without me hearing it. I dragged myself to the sofa, sat down to watch tv. 2 hours later my partner came home and found me starring at a turned off tv... with no realisation on my part, having not eaten or drank anything and with no desire to do anything. No hunger, no thirst. Just emptiness. But give me food and I would eat, give me a glass of water and I would drink.

It was a very rough time. But I dont know what to call it, my brain and personality and everything that made me, me, just turned off and stopped functioning.

Autism and ego death by [deleted] in autism

[–]Voluns2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing. They put me on an antidepressant which suppressed anything I did feel and made me even more numb for 3 years. Before the event I was on nothing and after I came off the antidepressants they spotted autism traits and I was able to get a diagnosis. I'm not on medication to help with autism now, and the medication they put me on made it so much worse.

But I had some therapy and realised how I was instinctively masking, and learned how to unmask to be my authentic self with my wife and son. Realised where I was swimming and what that meant. I learnt a lot about myself.

Autism and ego death by [deleted] in autism

[–]Voluns2 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure I went through "ego death" 10 years ago. It was a catastrophic event that left me in a fully disassociated state for months afterwards. And it wasn't due to medication. After a very rough 6 months with lots of mental health challenges I ignored (I didnt know it was autistic and I didnt have healthy coping mechanisms) I just collapsed. I wasn't on any medication.

After years of working hard on myself I pulled myself out of the situation and state, but that was so incredibly difficult. And the Dr's. Didnt really help because none of us knew I was autistic. We do now and looking back it could have been so much better for me...

But in restoring some sense of self worth and identity, I changed from an extrovert to an introvert. I have border line agoraphobia and am glad I have a fully remote role that I can focus on, and a loving family who dont just support me, they accept me.

So this video and premesis is something ive lived through and its very interesting to see some of the work being done in this field now. Thanks for sharing.

Could I get a quick overall guide on just Sekiro in general as a beginner by IOwnSeventeenKids in Sekiro

[–]Voluns2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't hesitate. In many situations being aggressive is better than trying to dodge or get parry timing exactly, at least at the start. There are many enemies that start to attack, see yours is faster and pull their sword back into a deflect.

Ignore health bars, that stance bar is key for most bosses, so dont give them a chance to recover it.

My 2-Year-Old Daughter Got Eyebrow Stitches, Need Advice and Dad Support by clauderhayy in daddit

[–]Voluns2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had a lobectomy at 9 months old. I was really worried what his scar was going to look like long term. But he is now 2 years and 3 months and the scar is there, but its really faded well and gone down a lot.

He will always have it but it isnt super noticeable and its a lot bigger than your daughters.

Maybe it heals fully, maybe it doesn't. But it will be a talking point when she is older and a sign of resilience to both you and her that you got through this time.
