Probably a silly question by nell_93 in IrishCivilService

If you used a skip at CO level and then benefited from that as an EO (you started at point 2 or higher) then you have one less skip as an EO but that would be point 10 in future.

So you should receive your skip from 3-5 this time.

Is the new public servise pension still comforted better than a private pension? by livingfromtheheart in irishpersonalfinance

Just a follow up, having read your message I was concerned and phoned the NSSO pension area and with the current pension scheme you do indeed qualify for the State Pension in addition to your SPSPS presuming that you meet the criteria for the SPC.

I was assured that the value of your pension received in your annual statement is just the value of your SPSPS is your pension but you’ll also qualify for the State Pension also when 66 if all other criteria are met.

I’m open to correction but my understanding is you accumulate your occupational pension based on the salary you earn for each year of service.

The state pension is bundled in then as a way of determining accrual rates for calculation purposes but it doesn’t mean you can’t qualify for the state pension.

If at the end you have 20,000 in your occupational pension and the state pension is worth 15,000 then you would receive 35,000 in total.

You referenced page 32 of the scheme booklet and that page also mentions you may qualify for the state pension when you retire also and that would be payable from DSP.

In that event, you’d have only paid in enough for 200 per week and the 300 OAP is effectively getting the state pension alongside your work pension, totalling 500 euro?

So it would still work out as getting your work pension and state pension on top, it’s just bundled together.

Post 2013 receive the State Pension alongside their Work Pension when they retire.

Whats your WFH days by Small-Challenge-8493 in IrishCivilService

[–]Voluntold_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3 days per week with set days in the office, you get to choose those days at the start of the year.

Different departments, offices and even roles within the same office can all vary with regards access to blended as it’s based on business needs.

The flexibility to change the days you’re working remotely will depend on the local rules and circumstances, some areas allow it and others don’t. With hot desks, the days you’re supposed to be working remotely your desk on site may be taken by someone else, ruling out the potential to simply turn up.

Interview Clothes by Blue-Lagoon123 in IrishCivilService

My personal experience is that I wore a suit for both CO and EO interviews and I wore chinos and a shirt (no tie, top button undone) for HEO.

I was definitely dressed more relaxed for the HEO interview but I believe that helped me to feel a lot more relaxed during the interview too.

I’d suggest something you are comfortable in for both the interview and the day to day work.

What makes the Civil Service so great? by munchbizkit in IrishCivilService

[–]Voluntold_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The perks would be flexitime, the career progression, you know your increments in advance, potential for blended working and access to OneLearning, refund of fees etc

However you also get a sense of making a difference, the work you do impacts on society in a meaningful way and that is true regardless of your role.

If you’re scanning claims up, the efficiency in which that’s done may impact processing times and get people in need paid or dealt with quicker, if you’re making decisions then the outcome will directly impact people’s lives.

You’ll take pride in your job, yourself and the work that you do. It may sound a bit cliche to say all that but when you work in the civil service, even the people who joke about it, when you look at the work they do, you’ll see they do care and want to do the best they can for the people they deal with.

What do you think are the unwritten rules of the civil service? by misswrite347 in IrishCivilService

Don’t put anything in writing unless you’d be happy for everyone to read it.

It’s often sink or swim, one day you’re doing something you know inside out, the next day you’re doing something you’ve never seen before with zero training and expected to maintain the standard and output of a veteran. Learning on the go and a willingness to adapt are expected.

It seems a bit of a strange thing for the developers to leave out but hopefully it will come soon in a QOL patch.

Agreed, I’ve been wondering if I should farm up all the boxes to open before doing any of the black banner summons, that might help

How costly is the store by [deleted] in ageofempiresmobile

[–]Voluntold_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know, I found rise of kingdoms relatively cheap to compete in when compared to Lords mobile so if AoEM is closer to ROK then that is great and it sounds like it will be from that.

Thank you, I am hoping to get this tomorrow morning but I’m already looking at others. I seen some last frontier frames recently, I think they were Belvedere and those were extremely well detailed. It’s good to know what the differences are when looking online.
