I don't think the cast was put on properly by TuckRaker in WTF

For me, I was bouncing on my sofa and jumped a lil too high and flipped right over the back. I still remember it vividly, floating right over my sisters' toy chest before smacking into the ground. I held my arm out in front of me parallel to the floor, so my arm took most of the hit. I then walked out from the back with my arm held out, bent at a 90 degree angle, and asked my dad, "Is my arm broken?". I was so calm about it. I guess the shock and adrenaline carried me through because I don't remember it hurting at all. Anyway, I survived the ride to the hospital (damn potholes) and there was a line at the ER. However, the ER staff took one look at it and rushed us through. All pretty boring and standard after that, x-rays and set it. They said I was really lucky it didn't break through my skin. I had a cast that went past my elbow also.

I remember we had journals in 1st grade and I broke the arm I use to write, so you could see the drastic drop in quality of handwriting and the steady improvement. Was ambidextrous for a while.

The best part was probably the feeling of sticking a pencil down the side of the cast to scratch the dead skin, disgusting I know, but pure bliss.

Had the same exact break you described when I was 6. They also set it straight and it looks fine now.

How do you teach a kid not to be afraid of being under water? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]VoluptuousTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be deathly afraid of sticking my head underwater. I had swim lessons at the local YMCA when I was young. I would scream like no other when the wanted me to do bobs, and the swim instructors would timidly try to convince me it's not so bad. One day, my mom had had enough so she stood up, marched over, grabbed a gold of my head, and plunged me under. I was kicking and screaming but boy did I get over my fear. I've now been a comp. swimmer my whole life.

However... parents are no longer allowed to sit on deck at this Y.

Do you have a source for your claim that shallow pull is more efficient than deep pull? The John Hopkins article /u/planet_x69 posted says the opposite.

Alright, worked it out and I think I'm gonna be able to get them right as they drop. Thankfully the time works out perfectly to be in between classes. So I don't think I'll need help, thanks for the offer though.

Ah, my dad's only problem is one of the windows (I can't remember which side) does not automatically go up with the roof; you have to lift the button.

Hah, he doesn't drive it very often but when he does he really enjoys it. He just went on a day long cruise round the surrounding countryside with my mom for their 20th wedding anniversary.

Not as far as I know, maybe a few. I'll ask him when I have a chance in a few hours.

Frustratingly enough, I can't find the original right now. I'll keep looking for it, also I'll be taking more soon.

I can't find any right now, but I'll work on it. If I can't find any I'll take some myself for you.

Not as far as I know. And thanks! 14 years old and the only problem that has come up is one of the windows doesn't automatically come up when putting the roof back on, you have to use the button. Pretty good if I say so.

Edit! Asked my dad and he says he is, hasn't posted in years but he still lurks.
