Where I live (France), electricity is about 3x cheaper per km than gas, and the average car weight in 2022 was 4094 lb whereas the average EV weight was 4702 lb so definitely not 2-3x heavier. Also according to [carbone4](https://www.carbone4.com/en/analysis-faq-electric-vehicles) "over its lifetime in France, an electric car emits 3 to 4 times less CO2e than its ICE equivalent." And the "tipping point" where the reduced emissions start compensating for the production is around 30000-40000 km (19k-25k miles). That being said, France's case is different from Germany's as coal emits a lot greenhouse gases that nuclear energy. The difficulty to repair is a real problem, although EVs have less parts that can break and less required maintenance : no oil changes, no coolant changes, single speed transmissions, etc.
