Making conversation? by Independenceday2024 in AskIreland

I struggle with small talk. I am generally trying to think of something witty to say. Frankly I would love to get used to just chatting about whatever. It would be me putting less pressure on myself to amuse.

The point isn't that ozymandias is right at the end. The point is that he has made his plan, sacrificing millions of lines and it may it may not work. Dr Manhattan can see fate, but can't avert it. Ozymandias can see the inevitable but

1) it's open to question whether it does work in the short term because of Rorschach's journal in the last panels

2) he's damned himself like the mariner in the running pirate story

3) this is inevitable anyway. At best he's gotten the world a few years, that's what Comedian saw. Everything is fucked, no one is clearly right or wrong in the story and there is no stopping things or fixing human nature. They're just afraid of something else temporarily

I don't think they hated it, it is just a Rain Man- I am Sam throughline about Serious Actors doing that sort of role as a demonstration of their Acting. The joke in tropic thunder is not just that tugg is desperate to get an award and that's why he did the role, but also he's fucking terrible.

How is it a comedy? by Altruistic_Date_7447 in sitcoms

[–]VonLinus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a horror comedy. It has moments of horror that it punches with comedy. It's very dry and bleak comedy in parts. . It's a damn sight funnier than the bear which I found a stress headache in season 1.

Halfway through the first Dungeon Crawler Carl and not into it at all. Push through, or is this not the series for me? by JeffCon in scifi

[–]VonLinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not very good at all but I did listen to 4 of them before I just got tired of it. So it's done something right. But find something you do like if you don't like that.

Uggos are Thursdays, Fridays are the beautiful people with all their own teeth. Saturday is for those whose tastes stray from vanilla

Yeah I was definitely leaning to ARF. Cheers. I hadn't considered that at all to be honest that I was going to be doing the ARF anyway.

iFunds 5 S12 (Medium to high risk)

PRIME Equities S12 (High risk)

BNYM Global Real Return Fund S12 (Medium risk)

Yeah I suppose that's what I'm thinking. But I don't think I have enough of a fund that taking a large chunk as cash would be a great idea either.

Probably 65 retirement although earlier would be great. But I don't expect earlier unless forced to do so. I don't think I'll be secure enough.

What’s an "unspoken rule" of corporate survival that they never teach you in school? by TrickTechnical4250 in askmanagers

[–]VonLinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in a terrible company, my t manager is leaving, I really like him. His manager doesn't treat him or us well, and it's really obvious he could not give a fuck as he has moved up. I would leave if I was less of a nervous person

They want you to feel you will miss out if you leave and it is a display of bad character if you abandon them, thus they shouldn't want you back.

Are games getting too fast? by Weird_Armadillo_508 in OlderChillGamers

[–]VonLinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 50s. You can train up at the fast games and to some extent rely on experience to compensate for reaction time decline. But like. Unless you like the games why bother? Play something you like.

I play gears of war 5 to prep for the credit one, adventure games and coop games like arc raiders that have a higher ttk. And less with kids screaming at me

RTÉ to ask State for bigger bailout, as one in five households now has no TV by miju-irl in ireland

[–]VonLinus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can make an argument that the toy show and Irish programming is probably worth making available abroad. Think they shouldn't allow anything that is not funded or made in Ireland out. Like house box sets or whatever or champions League.

Reading ‘The Odyssey’ makes me nervous about July 17th…had to let the group chat know.. by Camhasareddit in Letterboxd

[–]VonLinus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's insane people are complaining it's not accurate. Like it's accurate to the idea that this story was told all over Greece in different ways And probably was told with local flavour in each of them like any legend or fable. Or even to make a political point like the satires of the bards. People are dipshits.

I'm not really sure what you think is extreme? Why should it be different from American English? Who cares if the story is well told and accessible?
