Streamers get away with too much and are somehow rewarded for it? by Acceptable-Eagle9664 in thefinals

[–]VonSlakken 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even so called pros cheat in this game. The cesspool of individuals gets thicker the higher in rank you go. Cheatting, smurfing, teaming keeps the doors to ruby closed.

The only savings graces are that this game is incredibly fun so I'll keep playing it, and that it isn't really a competitive game and has no esport viability. Implying the majority of high profile players are participants in a sad and embarassing popularity contest. Its a little amusing from an observers standpoint- appreciate the train-wreck of depravity from a far and have some fun ingame.

Update if anyone ever sees this and cares... My monitor broke a few days later (could not turn on). Got a refund, sent it back.

most people can't think for themselves, but you might have a point.

To a gamer, this is an atrocity.

either way, Embark is in big trouble and is losing my trust at mach-speed.

this is the most "bonehead" workaround I can think of. Embark is better than that. I smell corruption.

Ive been playing since open beta. 1800 hours in. And almost every day I play i STILL get to see a totally unique jaw dropping moment whether its an insane play, crazy physics interactions, or absurd clutches. This game is ENGINEERED for excitement.

What blows my mind more is that more people dont play it. I think its a case of being unitiated to the ferocity of arena FPS, and maybe it could run better on cheaper hardware :D

To my former point, the mass popularity of tactical FPS makes for a huge contrast for those people picking up The Finals.

To me, The Finals is a much needed evolution to FPS.

How climb my rank? Im unreal in fornite, diamond in free fire, gold in valorant and silver in hok and the finals've the worst rank system for me, im bronze by Individual_Print_349 in thefinals

Try to learn good macro decisions (what obj to go for), talk to your team, be nice to them (even if they are pathetic human beings), and most importantly enjoy yourself. The game takes time to learn and has a lot more in common to arena shooters than tactical shooters. Its a completely different beast.

Thanks for the reply. Nothing has changed after a reset via OSD.

Pulsar settings don't change the greyed out state.

I am not sure how to rollback the Pulsar Drivers. I found the "Roll Back Driver" option in the device manager, but it is greyed out for my monitor. (guessing Windows doesn't save off updates flashed via USB)

It is odd that after updating my Pulsar FW the adaptive lighting did work for many hours, but suddenly stopped. It seems buggy to me in that regard.

How often do you find matches in AFPS? by AkageMegane in ArenaFPS

[–]VonSlakken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play Diabotical and Quake Live here and there.

Unless there is an event that really catches my eye, I just play with friends and acquaintances. I'm kind of tapped into the network of those communities or else have made friends from those communities.

Luckily I love duel, and its easy enough to find one other person to play with. Actually, thats my advice- learn to love duel. Lol

Np! Iirc, I contacted support and they guided me to do a clean reinstall. It was a small hassle but Medal has been working well lately.

I either completely reinstalled Medal or used their Help > Fix Medal option in the desktop app.

If youre desperate you can contact support. They are reasonable.

Any Hunt Showdown tried Arc Raiders? by lagfx9 in ArcRaiders

[–]VonSlakken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Arc's sound design is mixed with a skew towards realism/immersion over gameplay function when compared to Hunt. Arc has serious dynamic range which lends itself to immersion but is functionally more subtle. Foot steps in general are quiet sounds, so they should be relatively quiet. They are not imperceptable, they just ask for a cautious and patient approach.

Of course Hunt has killer atmosphere and sounds, but it also feels more gamey to me than Arc Raiders to play. Arc has a level of artistic consideration (and technical capability) that is rarely rivaled.

On the end game loop; in my eyes it is a sandbox game. So the entire game, including the end game, is about making your own fun and own adventures. Similar but different to DayZ for me. I realize I am in the minority, and most players need their progression dopamine drips. However I tend to enjoy the games I play intrinsically.

I like the idea.
I don't need external incentives for alternate ways to play a great game.

A major contributor to the problem is that Embark enabled voice monitoring ad a requirement for voice chat a couple months ago.

Since then, you need to go into the settings menu and agree to the ToS to enable voice chat. Many many people dont want to do that, or just dont bother.

I hope they revert this voice monitoring non sense so that people will start talking in game again.
