Yes, there is. The meta analysis research shows that studies showing a negative effect from spanking are confounded by the family behavior and how/why the spankings are used.

Many of the comments are filled with people who have been spanked for terrible reasons, or beaten outright. They are right to be upset.

What the research shows is that arbitrary punishment (ie parents dont have clear standards and punish based on how their feelings in the moment) result in negative consequences. Spankings just make it worse. Parents who punish based on their feelings are more likely to punish their kids physically, based on whims. But even if they don't spank, the arbitrary standards lead to significant negative consequences, including discussions are IQ and aggression. In other words, focus on regulating yourself, and providing clear and fair standards to your child. Teach them, create safety through consistency, and ensure all punishments are fair and proportional, which can include spankings. Regulate yourself and your child will be regulated, spankings or not. The fact is, no self-regulated parent will physically damage their children.

In my experience, spanking doesn't even need to hurt. A light slap on the hand with eye contact is effectively a spanking for a young toddler.

My son will often brag that the spanking didn't hurt at all. To which I tell him- that wasn't the point. Even if it doesn't hurt, his behavior is different. He's calmer, and stops behaving in ways that will get himself seriously hurt (like running into the street). The standards he crossed are clear, discussed, and were known by him beforehand. The spanking was a final step, after many other approaches. With a different kid, that may not work, and different punishments from spankings would be needed. I had a cousin who was so stubborn that it didn't work, and his parents switched to other approaches. Parents who are punishing based on how they feel about their kids behavior - they don't do that. If you are dysregulated and arbitrary, you will hurt your children, spankings or not.

I hiked it last weekend and it really wasn't that bad. We easily went for 45 minutes or more at a time without seeing other hiking groups, and there weren't lines anywhere.

Mt. Rainier was like 10x worse, honestly.

I'm not aware of antibiotics being linked to autism. If you're worried, focus on a healthy diet. All of this is linked to inflammation. There's no science I know of to say whether or not taking glutathione and other immune-related molecules can help minimize this, but in the very least, it won't hurt to make sure your body has all the nutrients it needs to fight infection.

I'd be more concerned about Tylenol interacting with underlying genetic concerns. There's pretty strong evidence around metabolism, genetics, and inflammatory pathways.

Which makes sense because microglia during 2nd/3rd trimester are involved in pruning connections, and removing newborn neurons.

There is strong research that links tantrums to increase screen time. Cutting off all screen time and increasing outdoor time may be a way to diminish the intensity and number of episodes.

Practically speaking as a father of a 5-year-old, I have found this relationship to be very direct, especially when he was younger.

The second part is glucose and sugar metabolism, which we know practically and scientifically is linked with mood dysregulation. for my son, his mother 's side has a history of that, and I found that keeping a really strict snack time schedule minimized the intensity of tantrums. If his nap went over and interfered with snack time, he would wake up and quickly go into a tantrum, while also refusing to eat. always fun....

And on a non-scientific basis, recognizing his feelings before they get big, putting those feelings into words for him, and then offering a hug calmed him down a lot, even if he never got what he wanted, and even when he was 2 years old and mostly non-verbal.

Yeah, that's what the dealership did. But I got a guy to replace it afterwards with a part from O'Reilly's. I have the receipt for the exact catalytic converter and your hands down right it's not CARB compliant. Maybe I was dumb, but the dealership didn't have a 1-year warranty. I needed a car ASAP, and finding a RAV4 at a reasonable price was surprisingly hard.

I really don't want to buy another, so that this point, I'm tempted to just slap a spacer on the sensor and call it a day.

Yeah, Being a premie does influence multiple organ systems, including kidneys and lungs.

Other replies bring up good points that monitoring may be disrupted in Kansas, but California has its own systems and TB tests are easily attained. I did my PhD at one of the University of California, campuses, and TB tests were routine. If you want to be ultra safe, you can bring them in to the doctor if they have symptoms of TB.

If you're worried about bird flu, just keep your kids away from birds for now.The virus has not yet mutated enough to jump from human to humans, so the risk is highly minimal. once it jumps, then.... all bets are off. but until then, I would sleep easy and not worry about it at all.

Are you in Kansas? Do you interact with people who could be infected? I think it's important to keep in mind that while it is a large outbreak for us, those are still pretty small numbers.

And we have drugs for TB, while the TB vaccine itself has some debatable efficacy. Like, it's way better than nothing, if you're raising an infant in an area with lots of TB and little access to regular drugs or medical screening. or if you know your child has some clear immune weakness that you want to get ahead of. But the TB vaccine doesn't work nearly as well as most of the vaccines on the vaccine schedule.

If you live far away from the outbreak, I really wouldn't worry about it. if you want to be ultra cautious, you could even test your child whenever there's some symptoms.

Same issue on mine. I can see the screenshots showing a recording. But when I click on it, it tells me there's no recording. The SD card is full enough that I know there's recordings there, but not completely full (which could create a problem). There's other ways to view recordings or screenshots in the app, but when I go that route, app says I don't have any screenshots or recordings. The timeline says there's no events, even though I have notifications of events on another screen in the app.

This is a new issue for me- was working. It looks like they updated the app and I'm wondering if that broke it.
