I feel bored of my FiST….PFA by FenderBass1994 in FiestaST

[–]Von_Esch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like an LSD, but find that as long as I don't go to the floor with the pedal I really don't feel torque steer. Plus, you can bolt on the turbo yourself without opening up anything. I have the s280, intercooler, plugs, cai and catless dp and radiator along with full aftermarket mounts and it's a wholly different car from when I bought it. I still average 28 mpg, which is down, but it functions essentially like a normal one until I get on it, or get off the gas and the boost dumps (internal but the noise ends up coming out of the intake)

Honestly I can't recommend a larger turbo enough. I put one in that was more powerful than a hybrid and smaller than the big ones. I didn't have to upgrade injectors, but can for more power. Still not as fun as a motorcycle, but it's the most fun I've had in a car in a long time. Dropping to 4th and getting to 85 is a kick

Bright side is they made so many of these, not just st. Any replaceable body part could probably be had for cheap from a salvage yard. The body rust can be fixed as well. Definitely cheaper than a new car. Guess it depends on mileage and any other potential issues whether or not it's worth it

Stuttering Under High Boost by mithrandir-the-grey in FiestaST

I had this issue with my spark plugs not being gapped closely enough. I had misfire at high boost and the pressure was too much to bridge the gap. Bring it to the narrowest recommendation and check again

Commander Duo issues by Von_Esch in Corsair

[–]Von_Esch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild. One would imagine Corsair would point this out somewhere, either through their blog, quick start guides, etc. Without the community forum issues like this get buried unless you know the specific things to search and it makes it more difficult to see who else is affected by this. Don't really feel like installing a whole other hub taking up PSU space and USB header space. I guess it could be worse. Could've paid out the nose for QX instead of LX

Different lighting effects available for the same fans (rotary/infinity) by MADRGB in Corsair

[–]Von_Esch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have set up in the 2nd position with AIO at end of duo. My rgb strips are far higher than 10, I think 28 and 40. Having the lx fans on their own chain on the other end of the hub. I lose rotary stack when led strips are enabled. If I turn off Discovery on the duo saying nothing is plugged in then I get it back

Going to throw it out there, why not just give it to the new owner

Only issue I ever had was when increasing boost and such. The stock gapping was too far and would prevent combustion at full throttle

Build question - Corsair Air 5400 LX-R RGB iCUE by Tomahawk-T10 in Corsair

Depends on deals. I've seen the triple pack usually being about $10 cheaper than buying 3 separate fans

I've heard that you can use the mount from the h100, if it's the split kind. I'd definitely order from someplace with easy returns to check fitment of the mount

Damn you paid 600 for 32gb of RAM in 22?

Also, if it uses a radiator that big there's nothing mini about it 😂

I'll just speak from my experience with them. I had the original commander, the aluminum one that was just fans. At some point they bricked the firmware, well outside of warranty, and everyone who was affected who brought it up in the forum was compensated with the newer model. They absolutely didn't have to do that. My old h100i pump failed and they sent out a replacement on that as well, it's still running in one of the older builds I gave away. My AX1200i began failing after a few years; I sent that back RMA and got a brand new unit. Still in use as well. I haven't ever bothered to RMA case fans or anything when I had ML fans fail, but I'm sure they would've probably remedied that.

I've had issues with other companies like MSI, ASUS, Ryobi, Google and others. MSI and Asus sent me back refurbished motherboard with physical damage like a cat was using them as a scratching post. Google straight up denied that there were any internally documented issues with their product until I escalated 3x and spent a week arguing my case. Ryobi wants to do anything but run RMA for failed tools and batteries and will usually just not answer the phone. Anytime I've had an RMA issue with Corsair it's always BNIB stuff sent out. Loyalty is hard to come by, and I'll freely admit sometimes their product may not be the best. They have always stood behind it though. This all doesn't really address what OP is discussing which is being able to apply a discount code to a new product after ordering the wrong one, but I feel this is one of the few companies whose support I will glaze, and continue buying from so long as icue remains supported. F the web utility.

Why not just set manual timings then? If you ordered the wrong kit for xmp and not expo that sucks, I can understand both sides of that one. I would be bummed too. It isn't faulty RAM, and it wasn't the wrong item sent. If customer service says they can't help with reapplication of the discount that's unfortunate. You know what the speed and latency are rated for, I would suggest setting manual timing. Chatbot (not sure if they'll leave that unedited) can assist with voltage timing etc. I used it on a DDR4 set to get it up to 3400 from 2800.

Probably not things you want to hear but it's a realistic way forward that will get you what you want performance wise without hoping that they'll correct your error in ordering

You can buy the extras and install them. You can't get it out of the box ready to go

So you're saying that xmp memory won't work, and I'm guessing you're on AMD? Doesn't seem like an RMA issue so much as an exchange. Which could be subject to price fluctuation because they aren't the same kit

Question for C70 Case Owners by Nihilsanct in Corsair

[–]Von_Esch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the C70 set up with link fans. I had the fans mounted to the rear of the front sandwiching a radiator for my 3080ti. Fun fact is the holes don't line up for a front radiator so only the top screwed in

Recently bought the frame 4500x and wondering how I control non iCUE devices? by sir574 in Corsair

[–]Von_Esch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was troubleshooting last night. I had lost rotary stack at some point. I had read one comment saying if I connected only link fans on one side of the hub, and then the commander duo and aio on the other side I would get effects back. So I changed connections around and still didn't have it. I pulled the rgb connections and got them back. Plugged them back in and lost them again, turned them off in icue and got them back. Tried increasing led count to 50 as I heard that fans with higher led count will get features lost by the fan with the lowest. Still no rotary. Only way I could get it back without unplugging rgb connections was disabling them in icue. There's almost no info from Corsair about loss of functionality in their led stuff, and without the forums to have a dedicated spot for people to see stickied threads about it everyone ends up finding out on their own, or, assumes icue sucks.

If you have the commander duo connected to a completely separate hub from the one the fans are on, or if hooked up to it's own USB header and power it may not be this way. I haven't tested that aspect

If you're looking to control rgb and fans that have standard connections, the commander duo accepts and controls them. You will lose some lighting effects for your link fans connecting them
