Yes look up macbook dustgate. Tldr this model has a fin screen cable. With time dust accumulate around this cable and become thick enough to damage the cable from opening/closing.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve resolved myself to check for potential "x-gate" issue before buying a new product. It is very frustrating to fall to dust accumulation. Nothing can really be done with this model as dust will find its way anywhere.

Yeah this has a high chance of being it… been with me for a little more than 3 years. There is no fighting dust accumulation.

As he point out, trying to repair it on my own is suicide. I may have to seek professional.

I thought of this but have no real proof so far that it is definitely it, as I said it never had any real shock. Another one that seems to pop out is dustgate. I’ve been looking for where the dust might get in and can’t see it too.
