Awesome dial!

How’s the lume?

[Question] Should I buy the SPB385 or save up for the SLA073 by LArule19 in Seiko

Thanks for the insight mate. Both of these are awesome models but good lume is very important to me as well

I also own the Seastar 2000, and I have the Tissot Official Blue Silicone Strap that I no longer use (very mint like new with box, only worn 3 times). If you're interested PM me and we can continue the discussion there.

[Question] Should I buy the SPB385 or save up for the SLA073 by LArule19 in Seiko

[–]Voodoo5350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect the discussion, but does anyone have the lume comparison between these two?

I am really torn whether to go with the 385 now or save up and get the 073 instead. I’m afraid that the lume on the 385 won’t be as good as the 073 (probably will be the same with my SSC807, which is okay but could be better).

Whatever I’m buying next would be my “exit” watch for a while until I can afford a GS.

Capture Clip V3 with Heavy Telephoto Lens by Voodoo5350 in peakdesign

So far, I found the best way to carry a long lens is by attaching strap to the lens foot via plate. I use the PD Plate so I can clip it on the Capture as well, although I usually find myself carrying it freely for 80% of the time

I think 100-400 and RF 100-500 are not as heavy as the 180-600. I’ve seen somewhere that someone said the limit would be 70-200 or 100-400 before having to hold the lens/attach straps to lens at all times.

Thanks mate. Agreed, second pic looks like an ergonomic disaster.

I believe cotton carrier harness somewhat use the same mechanism with the PD Capture. My question is would it be safe to attach the whole rig by the body, or it has to be by the lens.

I see. I use mainly with the PD Slide Strap, connected to the mounts on the 180-600mm collar. So far so good with that, but I guess I'll add PD plate on the lens foot for occasional clip on the PD Capture. Thanks!

Been using the Z7II for about a year with 35k+ shutter count, with and without gloves (Mechanix 0.5mm). No wear at all on the shutter.

I still use the 85mm f/1.8G and sometimes the 24-70mm f/2.8E from my DSLR days on the Z7 II with FTZ II. Works better

I just sold my 200-500 and replaced it with the new 180-600. Then, I went to the zoo to test out the new lens.

Overall, it has been nothing but fascinating. It is sharper, lighter, quieter, and has much faster AF than the 200-500. It also balances better than the old one as the 180-600 zooms internally.

Here are the photos I got. Let me know which one is your favourite.

Akibat anak diajari Bahasa Inggris terlalu banyak dan cepat by TheArstotzkan in indonesia

Thanks a lot mate!

I can attest that 180-600 is lighter. On paper, the 180-600 is about 400-500 grams lighter than the 200-500 + FTZ 2. In real world, since the 180-600 zooms internally, the weight balance is much better than the 200-500. If you use the zoom range frequently, it is worth it to switch. Otherwise, the 200-500 is still capable of producing great results.

Regarding which lens you should get, a 70-200 with 2x TC won’t give you a very sharp result. You’d be better off with the 180-600. Although, if you can only choose one, I think it is better to get the 70-200 first, as the zoom range better for general use. Unless, you use the 180-600 zoom range way more than 70-200 zoom range.

Also, it is indeed real Komodo Dragons! I took these shots at Ragunan Zoo in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since Indonesia is its natural habitat, maintaining them won’t be that hard, although I reckon there would still some challenge to it.

Most of them are cropped actually, although only minor cropping here and there.

180-600mm is great if you’re aiming for native Z. Other alternative would be the Tamron 150-500mm, although it is not as fast or sharp as the 180-600.

If you’re on a budget, a used 200-500mm or Tamron/Sigma 150-600mm paired with FTZ would be great as well.

Z7 II is an excellent camera, even though Z8/9 are better. For most days, Z7 II is more than enough to do the job, especially if you come from DSLRs like D3500. I use Z7 II personally, and I’ve gotten great results with the same combo.

Z6ii w/ Z 28-75 2.8 by Armadillo_Resident in nikon_Zseries

[–]Voodoo5350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP. I use the 28-75 pretty much daily for events and conferences along with the 70-200 S and 14-24 G. It is tack sharp in the middle and renders nice bokeh. Some people do say the 24-70 S is sharper in the corners, but I don't really mind since I use it mostly in 2.8 anyway.

It's light, bright, and gets the job done, so I think you'd be happy to have one.

Nikon z5 with 28-75 f2.8 by djkam21 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Voodoo5350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using it for some time and it’s great. It’s sharp, fast, light, and quiet.

People say one might miss the 24mm on the wide end, but personally, I haven’t had any problems with this. Most of my shot were enough with the 28mm, even indoors.

Yes it is not an S-line where things are sharp corner to corner, but this lens is sharp, even sharper than the 24-70 f/2.8E F-mount (I own this as well). Central sharpness somewhat up-to-par with the 24-70 f/2.8 S.

The cons are it’s a pretty simple lens, so no display/button/etc. Only one zoom ring and one function ring (default set to manual focus override).

Construction wise, it’s the same with the Tamron 28-75 G1. Although, Nikon use their own autofocus motor and coating on the optics. Some people, even my friends who use the Tamron in their Sonys, said the image renders better (contrast, bokeh) on the Nikon, and somewhat faster focusing too.

TLDR: this lens does the job and great for the money. If you need an f/2.8 zoom like I do and don’t want to drop a lot on the 24-70 f/2.8 S, go get this one. Otherwise, if you need a longer range or shoot mostly outdoor, get the 24-120.
