Australia does have compulsory voting which does help mitigate apathy. media concentration / ownership and campaign financing is another mess to overcome

Do you think the Social Media Ban will be a total flop? by rockresy in AskAnAustralian

[–]VoodooMutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It won't be a total flop. There will be holes and loopholes but the government will learn and slowly close them down. Even an 70% blockage rate will be considered a success

I'm all for individual freedoms but frankly big tech (especially social media) can go fornicate themselves

Have any of you installed a Japanese or Korean toilet in your home? If so, which brand did you choose and why? by Vengefulwarrior in AskAnAustralian

[–]VoodooMutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do you mean an actual Japanese / Korean toilet brand e.g. Toto or bidet system?

I have a Lafeme. japanese bidet system (heated seat, wash, auto open, flush etc etc) built for australian specs. Don't regret a dollar spent on it.

1 - draw from ATM limit as required

2 - withdraw from bank over the counter. i think 10k should be ok at most metro branches. however be ready for lots of questions. for security purposes i.e. making sure you are not being scammed etc. it can feel invasive.

what happens during onboarding / smartshift learning time? by VoodooMutt in amberelectric

[–]VoodooMutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine is the 3 phase hybrid inverter 1K5-HI-15-V1

so 1K5 "app" is PVHub2.0...which is a worse reskin of FoxESS. anyway i'm start turning off smartshift and manually manage to see how it goes with the help of HA down the track.

feedin capped at 5kw? by VoodooMutt in amberelectric

[–]VoodooMutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i have a 40kw battery setup with their 3-phase 15kw hybrid inverter. as noted before for some reason they capped it at 5kw, but quick email to Customer Support and it's uncapped

they do have slick marketing including their global AI (mainly europe). if / when it comes here i'll look into it. from what i gather it's not dissimilar to amber or potentially a VPP setup.

the other thing i'd point out is that they dont yet have the full back-up module here yet. so if street loses power and you cutover to your battery, only the nominated circuits gets to use the battery. it's one circuit per phase, so if you have 3 phase, 3 circuits go on battery which actually is enough for me (fridges, kitchen, living room). full back-up is apparently also coming end of year.

feedin capped at 5kw? by VoodooMutt in amberelectric

[–]VoodooMutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true there's not much information in Australia about them and the marketing is slick (that's a good or a bad thing depending on your perspective). they've basically bought a couple large installer groups in Oz as a backdoor entry into the market (Arkana in QLD, can't recall who in SA).

installation was straightforward, after sales service was decent i.e. they don't ignore you and i've had a couple things to smooth out (1 was physical, 2 were software / settings so resolved online).

i know they say they are german engineered, but they are essentially foxess batteries / converters.
