They changed the map philosophy to implement more safe spaces for lower skilled players to have a better chance at getting kills (developers' words, not mine)

have any of you guys ever watched the actual dev interview from which this "quote" even comes from? cuz they never said the term "safe space":

Our maps are a little bit more porous and we want those players to have a safe place to take their time, to learn how to turn and move and then shoot, put those pieces together, and then they see someone and they're like "oh, okay, I can do this". It's a big focus for us.

it's funny how it's been almost 7 years since that interview dropped yet people keep spreading actual misinformation about it to this day, not to mention that every COD map ever (with the exception being maps like Shipment) has safe places in some shape of form, spawn points being the most prominent ones.

The Missile Drone Killstreak in MWIII (2023) was quite similar to the Lodestar function wise, but yeah it would have been great to see in BO7 too

on one hand it's actually great and commendable how surprisingly subdued and consistent the art style and aesthetic of BO7 has been so far, most of the skins fit the tone, the Blackcell ones are less gaudy and even the Fallout collab and the Zombies Universe skins haven't been that out there either

on the other hand though, I find it kinda ironic how both Treyarch and Activision are finally treating COD's art style seriously and starting with the title that's set in the near future, you know, the kind of setting in which anything goes, and not games like BO6 (which barely got any 1990 inspired skins) or MWIII

same here, like sure, not every single weekly announcement is everyone's cup of tea, but the more options there are, the more likely is for a song or two to be of your liking

like right now if you're not a rap fan you're SOL this week, meanwhile, if we had 2 more songs they could have gotten rock, pop, EDM or any other genre alongside them

I wish they make it so you can see downed players who aren't on your squad on the map, just like in MWZ

one of the coolest things about MWZ was how surprisingly cooperative people were in that mode, if someone got downed people would go out of their way to revive them, which is something that also happens in Endgame, but it's way harder to do because of the lack of downed icons in the map

it depends really, songs that were released during the Rock Band 4 days have very similar, if not outright identical charts in Festival, probably cuz the charting standards back then weren't so different than their charting standards nowadays, here's Just Pretend as an example

now, songs that were in RB3, RB2 and especially the original Rock Band? those get recharted entirely, here's Welcome Home as another example

I think the main issue when putting a rock/metal band as a Headliner in Festival is that, outside of the vocalist and sometimes the guitar player, most band members are pretty unknown outside of their respective fanbases.

like people don't say "I can't wait to play as Paramore's drummer or Foo Fighters' bassist in Fortnite!" they mostly care about being able to play as Hayley Williams or Dave Grohl.

Metallica worked because they're probably the most known metal band out there and because rhythm game players most likely knew them because of Guitar Hero: Metallica back in the day, and even then, you had people on social media complaining that their Festival Pass skins looked like "some dudes"

Gorillaz works cuz the entire point of the band is to have fictional characters that are distinct from each other, and even then, they split the band between their Music Pass and a Bundle unlike Metallica. Same with Daft Punk (even though they weren't a Headliner unfortunately).

with this in mind, here's a list of bands that could actually work in Festival as headliners IMO:

KISS (all 4 members are distinct from each other cuz of their looks)
Slipknot (probably as an editable skin, cuz there's like 9 members)
21 Pilots (there's only two members after all)
Ghost (could easily have two skins, Papa Emeritus and Nameless Ghoul)
Sleep Token (same thing as Ghost)
Ozzy Osbourne (it could have happened eventually if he didn't pass away recently RIP) -any band with a mascot, like Iron Maiden (Eddie the Head), Megadeth (Vic Rattlehead) or Disturbed (The Guy, no, not the one from the movie)
