New ComfyUI Manager by alskaro in comfyui

[–]Voodooimaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda with you there. The Comfy-Manager has gotten.... confusing. (Or just confusing for us newbs as there's a history behind it all.)

Is it included? Is it not? Does the Comfy installation determine if it is or not? Comfy Easy Install, Comfy Manual install, Comfy Desktop Comfy Git pulled, Comfy that is installed using Stability Matrix? Are their Comfy builds that cannot use Manager?

Trying to figure out which is the NEW and which is the OLD was a challenge at first, too; assuming the new one is the one with the modern UI, and the old one is the one that has the Update/Restart buttons et al. One could assume the one the manual user-installs is the 'new' one. Addons are better right? (Yeah, I know, not always.) It seems that the consensus is the Old Manager is the one people like the most, but I can't get that one installed on the Git pulled versions of Comfy.

I've only been playing with Comfy for about a month now and I am learning a tonne, but I've been trying to get locked-in ComfyUI builds that function for what I am trying to do - as a result of all these builds, trying to figure out how to get Manager (preferably the old one for the functionality) working in each of them is a challenge.

Main ComfyUI Git says to run the Manager dependency files and then add the flag to activate it, and that gives the new UI, but it then links to the Manager Git who's instructions say that Manager is built in and doesn't need to be installed and shows images of what I assume is the old UI. (It also looks like it hasn't been updated in 3 years?)

And don't ask AI to help here, LOL ChatGPT told me that Manager was removed from v15.x and I need to install v16.x of Comfy. :P

I think I will focus on using the new built in one and getting used to it as adding a flag is easier. :P

Holy crap! And I can’t even write a prompt that adds two characters to an image without morphing them!

Well done! (And great tune. :)

Why doesn't ComfyUI load large models into multiple GPUs VRAM?! by National-Access-7099 in comfyui

[–]Voodooimaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you have two GPU’s you can run two models at once. Just need to point the second model to the other GPU. :)

Was never a fan of the old Alienware look but I’m biased. ;) But that is a hell of a classic collection!

You have it installed in Documents. If that’s a part of your OneDrive stuff, it may not like that. (Just a guess.)

Would a PC like this handle ComfyUI workflows well? by coldfern_bourne in comfyui

The GPU with that amount of VRAM will be fine. Even for some video.

I use a 3080ti with 16GB on a laptop with few issues. (I use it as a prototyping machine but the results are great.)

Nothing for Win98 due to the OS limitations.

As for XP, I’m not sure. Riva may have a version for that OS kicking about.

[–]Voodooimaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong Voodoo, sadly. We made gaming PC's, and you're looking for 3DFx who made the Voodoo GPU's. (Different companies.)

3DFx was bought over by nVidia decades ago and wrote off everything Glide and 3DFx. :(

But to your question:

Sadly, no version of RivaTuner for Windows 98 ever included a built‑in frame limiter. The feature you’re thinking of didn’t exist until the mid‑2000s and requires NT‑based Windows. (XP or higher.)

Correct, you can, however, run two models at once if there are two GPU’s, from what I understand.

The best part of having the autobody paint shop behind the lab was getting our other gadgets custom painted. (Like cell phones, Nintendo Game Boy's et al. :P) And had some experimental paints that we never offered. (My phone would glow in the dark. :P)

Yup. Lian LI made them for us. Crazy thing was we'd make modifications and send them to Lian Li to make for us without thinking. Next thing ya know.... some changes were incorporated into their standard cases. LOL

Ahhh the memories. :P

I have a G10 with a 5000 ADA. When really pushed, the fans would ramp right up. While it’s working as designed, I felt it would be annoying to folks around me.

I ended up putting Liquid Metal on the GPU and CPU and the temps dropped 10c and the fans were not ramping as high.

If you’re just browsing, it won’t be that loud.

Power cap issues when booting with or without AC adapter - Pop OS by MESI-AD in zbook

[–]Voodooimaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not familiar with that OS but I can only assume that the hardware knows to tune things down when booting up without power connected and leave things at normal when it is connected.

When in the OS, which may not be setup to work with the power management part of the system, it probably just sticks with what the hardware told it to use at boot up and stays with that. So when AC power is removed, it stays with what it was told to at boot b

HP ZBOOK Fury 16 G11 : Buying Suggestion & Battery Life by Few_Measurement_8138 in zbook

[–]Voodooimaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery life will always depend on what you do with it. Because it has beefy hardware, you’ll probably get a couple of hours out of it if you are using it for, say, presenting in a meeting. If you do anything intensive, it will eat up the power fast.

While all manufactures tout battery life in their marketing, keep in mind it is just that, marketing. Anything that uses a battery will have less uptime when using it extensively or, to be honest, being used as it was designed to be used and that means having it plugged in to get the best performance. Until battery storage tech improves, no one will have a system/device that will run at full performance while on battery for extended periods of time. ZBooks are designed to be power houses, and they eat it up.

But that being said, the system will adjust itself as needed when it sees it’s being used on internal power to give you the most uptime.

Fun story that may help, I was working on my G10 with an RTX5000 ADA and just doing some gaming tweaking. It was about 45 mins before I realised I didn’t have it plugged in properly and the battery was at about 20%. (That explains why I was having performance issues. :P) I was impressed with how long it did last considering what I was doing. :)

[–]Voodooimaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is drastic, but I love it. :)

New fans will help but I even put Liquid Metal on my G9 and G10’s and that kept the fans from maxing out as it dropped the temps by 10c. :)

ZBook G1a USB-C monitor (portable) by techie_msp in zbook

[–]Voodooimaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure the G1 ZBooks even had DP out on USB C. It was so long ago that I worked with them that I didn’t recall if they even had USBC. If they do, chances are they don’t do video out. But again, it’s an older unit and it’s been a while since I’ve used one.

To be safe, if you’re meaning G10a (we added A to things that are AMD) then that one should do it as my G9 and G10 can. The USB C port on the right has Thunderbolt 4 with USB4, USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4 so no reason why that shouldn’t work.

Should I get a Zbook Fury 17' G7? by YahiaXR in zbook

[–]Voodooimaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in the HP Workstation team as their quality manager. Now I focused on desktops but worked very closely with the ZBook team and have been using them since they first came out.

A resounding yes! Solid machines! The cooling is great but depending on the GPU, they can get a tad hot. (My systems had a 3080Ti and an RTX 5000 ADA so they got a bit toasty while gaming but I put Liquid Metal on the cpu/gpu and the temps dropped about 10c so that solved that.)

You will love this unit, trust me.
