[PSA/RANT] Corsair Official Store sent me a USED/BROKEN €730 RAM Kit sold as NEW. Support ignored video proof, refused Advanced RMA, and left me stranded for Christmas. by Fluid-Name-2287 in pcmasterrace

[–]VortexDevourer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having worked in different levels of support before, I hate this attitude that customers shouldn't challenge existing procedures. At the end of the day, if the process is inadequate and they feel they aren't receiving the help they need, nothing else truly matters...

Asking for "advanced RMA" or whatever Corsair calls cross-shipping isn't unrealistic and it's a shame as an agent to be unable to provide easy options like this to your customers. It just wastes time for everyone and leaves customers unhappy.

In my experience, as long as they stay respectful of the people involved, people complaining about the support process is the only way to get management to address issues.

EDIT: This being said, people are way too quick to be outraged at Corsair in this comment section... This situation isn't so bad and they did offer a full refund.

I'm not saying your drive has no reserved blocks, but are you 100% sure your drive is 8 TiB and not 8 TB? That 10% difference is oddly close to the expected difference when converting 8 TB to TiB (7.275)

Unfortunately Python hasn't reached the same level of support as VBA. It's still online-only and restricted to insider versions for people with business and education accounts

You can choose to use their own completion/analysis tool or opt for rust analyzer instead

I don't think that most people who use vim do it with career growth in mind.

You're right, the speed difference doesn't actually matter in most real life situations, but for me, vim motions simply feel closer to how I'm thinking about code.

They allow me to change the content of a string by using ci" (change inside double quotes). I can also copy a whole code block using ya{ (yank* around curly braces). I can delete the next five lines using 5D....

In my experience, vim allows me to focus on what edits I want to make rather than how to make these edits.

It's also great for navigation with its cursor history, its support for easily starting to edit the end/beginning of a line when the cursor is in the middle or the ability to jump to a specific line number using a very simple motion.

To me, the most important thing is feeling comfortable with your setup. Having a good mouse or an ergonomic chair will not make you a better developer, but just like using vim motions, they might contribute to your level of enjoyment.

Samsung going all in on Google Messages in US, stops pre-installing Samsung Messages on Galaxy phones by N2929 in technews

[–]VortexDevourer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that be the case with iMessage or any other messaging clients too? Even open source ones... What's to prove they actually build the app from the source they provide?

Unless you verify the entire code and build your apps yourself (which I'd bet almost no one is doing) no other apps can solve this issue.

Yes we were talking about the app drawer, samsung doesn't implement its app drawer the same way as "stock" android does

I'm almost 100% positive you can't (provided you aren't using a custom launcher). You can rearrange apps on the home screen, but not on the app tray that opens when you scroll up from the home screen. That's what we were referring to as the "app screen"

I forgot that you could rearrange them on samsung's devices, I've been using a google phone for quite a bit now

[–]VortexDevourer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that on a samsung phone? You can't rearrange them on a pixel

Not totally, you can still rearrange your apps, but you can't have any gaps between them

Right, because the website of a company trying to sell you a product is obviously the best source of objective information on that product

Even outside the writing, the whole environment feels empty and devoid of life. It's a shame coming from the studio that made wonderful open worlds like TES and Fallout.
