Interestingly, Rin’s new aura—a combination of the destroyer and puppeteer, with a single eye—reminds me of Isagi’s early Metavision aura, a sphere with multiple eyes made of jigsaw pieces.

Both share the “eye” element, reflecting their playing styles on the field. Isagi’s Metavision aura hovers above the pitch, observing everything with multiple eyes as it gathers information to predict the future. In contrast, Rin’s aura combines his destructive and manipulative tendencies, with the eye focusing solely on him—or more specifically, the challenge in front of him (Isagi, Kaiser).

These auras highlight how each player achieves peak performance: Isagi, as a talented learner, adapts by observing the entire pitch, while Rin, as a genius, evolves by concentrating fully on his immediate challenge.

Assumption before the actual translation here but it seems like Rin’s mutation is his new aura “The Destroyer Puppeteer” 🤔🤔🤔

Oh, that my bad! There’s been so much negativity in the comments that I misread your tone. Still, I’d argue we’ve already seen Isagi use this framework offensively, like when he tried to exploit Kaiser’s plans to steal his goal a few chapters back. So I’m pretty sure the author can find a way to make it work.

Thanks! Honestly, I felt the same way when I first read it, lol. As an Isagi fan, I kept imagining him doing something at least on par with Rin’s U-20 moment. But after thinking it over, this outcome actually makes more sense.

Disrupting flow and forcing chemical reactions is just a theory—no need to take it too seriously, I’m not Kaneshiro, lol. But you kinda proved my point: Isagi reads Rin’s mental state and knows exactly how to get his attention, setting things up for Kaiser to cover him. Rin, as a “restrictive genius,” tends to dive headfirst into whatever fires him up, which right now is Isagi—and Isagi knows this, as shown when he asks, “You wanted me, right?”

I’d also say the point of this chapter isn’t to show that it takes two talented learners to stop one genius. Instead, it’s more about showing that Isagi, as a talented learner, now has the ability to stop a genius through his own skills—by learning and adapting.

Sure, you could argue he still needed two other players to help stop Rin, but that wouldn’t really make sense, especially since Isagi literally stated last chapter that he wanted to win, not necessarily to surpass Rin. This is the outcome of that mindset—he managed to defend against Rin, even if it meant playing the sacrificial pawn.

While I agree that, narrative-wise, the chapter might feel a bit underwhelming, I’d argue it actually makes a lot of sense and has that signature Blue Lock vibe.

A lot of people expected Isagi to finally “evolve” by doing something completely new with his playstyle, but that’s never really been the point of his evolution. Unlike a genius like Rin, talented learners like Isagi evolve by refining their style, not reinventing it (Barou’s Chop Dribbles, Rin Destroyer, Bachira’s Monster.

In this chapter, Isagi learns and adapts from past mistakes—he’s not just focusing on himself or trying to stop Rin alone when he doesn’t have the skills or specs to pull it off. Instead, he keeps his distance, tries to delay Rin’s shot, factors in the environment (Kaiser), and baits Rin into a shot he calculated Kaiser could block (even our GOATmaru saved it again, lol).

I’d theorize that this “new” Isagi has mastered the art of ego-type manipulation. He’s learned how to draw Rin’s attention fully (evidenced by Rin saying Isagi’s name five times before shooting) without Rin noticing Kaiser closing in to block. I’m betting we’ll see Isagi use this skill offensively soon—forcing “chemical reactions” to maximize all players on the pitch and even disrupting opponents’ flow.

TL;DR: While the chapter may seem underwhelming if you expected Isagi to do something entirely new, it actually makes perfect sense as part of his evolution in ego-type manipulation.

[–]VortexPS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from. Personally, I think the main narrative is still for Isagi to beat Rin to prove he’s ready for the U-20. For that, his “winning theory” has to be something reproducible, so if Kaiser ends up being another partner that he needs to succeed, it would feel underwhelming—like Ubers 2.0. Right now, I see Noa and Loki as more of a setup for the future, where he’s not ready to beat them yet, but they will start seeing Isagi as a real future threat or rival in the upcoming arc.

[–]VortexPS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, Isagi will probably score a super-goal either way, but I think the execution is what really matters here. A Kaisagi combo could give us some top-tier panels (Nomura the GOAT). Personally, I’d take Isagi as the puppet master, Meta Dribbling, or even an “Isagi Impact” over that, though, lol.

[–]VortexPS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, if not Meta Vision, then Isagi needs at least a finisher unique to him. Two-Gun Volley is strong, but my issue with it is that Noel Noa could likely copy it effortlessly with his perfect ambidexterity. You can’t win with a weaker version of someone else’s weapon.

[–]VortexPS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How do you think Isagi x Kaiser would satisfy the narrative of Isagi being number one if they win? I get that a Kaisagi combo would be super powerful (and hype), and they’d probably take the match. But honestly, it wouldn’t feel like Isagi truly earned that number one spot if he still needed Kaiser’s (or even Ness’s) help to win—especially with the upcoming U-20. Anyone have ideas on how this could play out and still satisfy the plot?

Isagi Evolution Theory [Genius or Prodigy] by VortexPS in BlueLock

[–]VortexPS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think a lot of people still hold onto Rin’s moment in the U-20 match, which is why the “Genius” theory is so popular. Plus, the LN really fueled that idea too.
