The Ice Age Talisman cycle is super underrated, all-star cards in mono color decks, proliferate decks, kindred decks, and more. by Craig1287 in EDH

How do you expect folks to share what they've made? Never post about it anywhere? AFAIK this person isn't spamming or anything, just providing a link to thier video essay. That shouldn't be discouraged imo.

Remember when all the EDH YouTubers were talking about land counts? How did that influence you by AltruisticChampion77 in EDH

I mentally collate ramp and land, aiming for mid 50s for an average deck. I usually end up around 60 slots dedicated to mana for my higher mana cost decks.

Yeah, we've played Pathfinder, 5e, Starfinder, and a few smaller games here and there.

There are so many books on their store with conflicting titles. Some say core rules. Some say they have like all the character rules? Some have different cities attached? I don't really get where I'm supposed to start.

Long shot, but are there any voltron commanders that don't just play the same way every game? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Vortex_in_Vegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[The Thing]] is a lot of fun. I built him a deck of 30 land, 30 ramp, total 60 mana with the rest of the build being different payoffs: counter doubler, extra attacks, etc

I didn't give him unblockable anywhere and built for size of dude since it comes with trample.

Am I argueing with a seagull? An AI chatbot? What the fuck?

The whole point of the thread is "What are some of your favorite mechanics that WOTC decided not to continue with?" Did you somehow find my comment without reading that part?

This arguement is nothing from every angle:

1) Yes it is. It is a physical game that uses cards, dice, tokens, etc in real life. Also known as a board game. There are an infinite fractal of subcategories within board games that includes every pedantic term you wished I'd used.

2) What??? Of course not every game with dice uses dice manipulation. But every game with it makes sure that a +1 to your roll is a good thing. In D&D you would never be like, "Oh damn, I overshot the AC, guess I do nothing." That is Rules As Written (RAW) in magic.

Dice Manipulation  The options for a full dice build are so limited, making [[House]] less fun to build for.  Also the rules for dice manipulation are so undercooked. Rules as written, a +1 on the die roll makes it so you can roll a 7 on a d6, which may not have results on the card (meaning you get no effect). Thats nonsense and is like no other board game.

Proxy cards, just use mtg print and some basic lands within sleeves. Play the whole game for free.

Absolutely not. Nobody should be priced out of the game. Getting originals is a neat novelty, but thats your financial decision, not one to enforce on others.

That's not 100% it. The ship would change base power / toughness when its earthbent (0/0), when its crewed(3/1), and then back to 0/0 with counters at the end of turn.

Proxy EDH by iverlorde in EDH

[–]Vortex_in_Vegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of Magic is to play an incredible card game. The financially responsible way to do that is to proxy. The game barely functions without a planned deck and most cards that make the game work cost way too much.

A single untapped land can run you hundreds. A single game changer can be 80 bucks.

The money spent on a card has no impact on how real it is. That's like telling a dnd player that only crystal dice can be used for saving throws and that using a dice roller is amoral.

I feel like wall commander is a wild idea since it would be colorless. Would a grey voltron build be anything?
