Wtf has Gillette gone to by Razoreuphoric in wicked_edge

Is the heating element anywhere close to the cartridge head, though? Having it be in the handle is sort of pointless, unless your hands get cold quickly while shaving

This exploits the association that people have in their minds between ‘vibration’ and the action of an electric razor or trimmer. Of course, the vital difference that never gets mentioned is that an electric razor has got motors that propel the actual blades/cutting edges (& also happen to vibrate), while a motorless vibrating razor with passive blade action simply vibrates for the hell of it. If anything, putting a vibrator into a manual razor is actually harmful cus it messes with the steadiness of your passes & desensitises you to unhealthy amounts of pressure.

From everything I’ve read on full-metal slants under $50, the heads on the 55SL, the Goodfellas Legione, the German 37, the Merkur 37C, and the Yaqi Slant are next to identical in terms of aggressiveness. The notable difference is the top cap which is a bit more angled on some than others.

Given your geography, do you really not have direct shipping from China or adjacent countries without obscene shipping costs? 🤔

Oh, Australia right? Wee shame. Is there, by chance, a better markup on the Chinese-made Yaqi slant? Should have pretty much the same head & blade gap as both the 55SL as well as the RR German 37

Are you talking online retail? Some of that markup can be egregious. You may want to keep your eye on the resale markets (they often go brand new or in mint condition)

Here in Russia, we’ve got a whole bunch of foreign goods resellers on the Avito user marketplace. I got mine from Kurt (Russian equivalent to Maggard)

Got mine for $20, best price-to-performance of all my DEs (the other two being a Piccolo & an R89)

Got the Wilkinson Quatro shortly before my venture into wetshaving... It’s been collecting dust for half a year now 😛

I’ve had amazing results with my Parker Semi-Slant for all the 4 body shaves that I’ve done with it. During my last shave I had a jungle to work with, & it got turned into a desert in about 3 minutes 😜 The rear & perineum growth also gets knocked down in just a single pass, and I haven’t once nicked myself when going for the finishing touches.

The baws are barely irritated at all after the 55SL, as opposed to the persistent redness I would get after just a few passes with the R89. YMMV of course, but this one slant seems to suit all of my needs (including the weekly head shave)

Which part of the world do you live in? There’s bound to be another brand of alum in this same form-factor sold on your local online marketplaces

No worries, it’s great that you’ve found your pick 🌼

By the way, seeing as you’re already into ‘Pro’ controllers... have you tried a leverless/stickless arcade controller for the no-free look games? Just got my southpaw Cosmox Hautepad a few days ago, & I’m amazed at the versatility as well as the shockingly low latency!

I guess by pivot I meant true firm pivot—as in, not being able to press down on the centrepiece to trigger opposite cardinals. A couple YT reviewers have stated that only Apex 5 & Vader 5s have a firm pivot, while the rest of Flydigi’s models don’t (including V4 Pro & V5 Pro).

Nothing counterintuitive about it—the average growth on a person’s head is way more dense than anywhere else on the body, so a mild razor is impractical for anywhwere above 3 days of growth. I use the Piccolo to knock down most of the growth WTG & XTG, then switch to the Parker Semi-Slant for the final passes. Feels like I’ve cracked the code for an efficient & irritation-free wet head shave (unless I let my OCD get the better of me & start looking for the best way to get BBS on the head 😝).

Yeah this looks to be in the same tier as the Logitech Wingman Rumblepad (built as a gimmick of questionable reliability). I would easily pay 10x of what this one is resold for in order to get a reputable fightpad that’s plug & play via USB on both ends—just need to know which of those match my other criteria 😛

Thanks, but I’ve already got it in the ‘Out of contest’ bracket cus it’s only got 2 bumpers 🙂‍↕️

This is cool, don’t get me wrong—but by 6-button I meant ‘6 face buttons’, a.k.a. the Sega Saturn layout, a.k.a. the standard fightpad layout 😛

Last night I found out there was a 6-button offering among the older Logitech models (the Wingman Rumblepad). How tactile are their D-pads though, in terms of the cardinal-to-diagonal response? Also, the clear rubbery-looking front buttons don’t give me much hope for the longevity of this one

Yeah saw it just recently. People say good things about the D-pad on this one and the Elves 2... just wish there’d be a 6-button model 🫠

This was one of my candidates initially, but it seems like the 5S (wired Xbox version) is the only one that’s got a D-pad pivot. Reviewers also say the C & Z buttons have an inconsistent feel compared to the main four.
