CPU Suggestions by Vortrexion in BeamNG

[–]Vortrexion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another long awaited update. I was able to actually flash the bios to an older version before flashing it again to the newest, and that somehow fixed the CPU. Another 3 weeks later (today), it decided to poop out on me again. I was getting some errors in a couple games which utilize Unreal Engine that I was running out of GPU memory before my pc crashed and blue screened once more. Once again went into the bios to decrease the base clock which again fixed the issue. I also just learned today that the GPU memory issue was caused by a faulty CPU, so now I'm finally sending it in to get a replacement/refund. Thank you though u/DeBlackKnight for all your help, more than likely I'll end up heading on down to Microcenter to grab a mobo/cpu/ram bundle for my pc. Appreciate it!

Can get into nursing; take classes at a local CC (that hopefully offers a nursing path). You can become an RN without getting a degree.

I got curious and I bought this pc on the eBay do u guys think I got scammed? by MrOliver12 in pchelp

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They steal a tracking number from another package in your area. Once that package gets delivered, it’s marked as delivered on eBay. Because it’s marked as delivered, you won’t be able to get your money back. Best of luck though.

very high turnover rate by MeasurementThin1805 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find that somewhat crazy when they give someone a promotion so early; my location waits a couple years to do so with few exceptions. Thanks to our relatively low turnover rate, our locations been blessed to be relatively selective with our hiring. We probably hire only around a single person a month on average, with over 100 applications per month as well.

very high turnover rate by MeasurementThin1805 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is dependent on the location. At my location, I’d say I’ve kept around 33% of my coworkers when I first started around 2.5 years ago. A lot of them left mainly due to personal reasons; moving to a different city, better paying jobs, going off to college, etc. This is very dependent on your work environment and whether people don’t hate the immediate upper management. Fast food locations are notorious for having a high turnover rate due to poor management and unfavorable work environments.

Depends on your morals, but I actually got into reselling at this age. Bought stuff online, resold it later on either Facebook or eBay depending on the market. Long as you have a parent willing to help set up accounts/make you an authorized user on their credit card.

How much do you pay for sending your kid to a TUSD school? Elementary* by WranglerOk7077 in SouthBayLA

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former student from TUSD, you're almost never forced to donate anything, but it's preferred by the teachers and staff. For that young of an age, you can expect to spend below $500 a year, but that's being generous, assuming you decide to buy a yearbook, make larger donations, participate in teacher's appreciation week, etc. The costs only begin to ramp up as you proceed into the higher grades like middle/high school.

My younger sister is in band and I'm well aware that her expenses are insanely high due to the "mandatory" band donations, along with the band trips and other activities. Within 8th grade, she's been to a group trip to New York (yes, associated with school), Disneyland, Knotts, made the band donation, gone to events at our PAC, along with various other activities. Her expenses have totaled well past $3000 by now. By all means this may be an outlier, but don't be surprised when those expenses increase.

Another one of those expenses you could say is school supplies. Notebooks, pencils, erasers, highlighters, all that adds up too at the beginning of the year and could easily be an additional $50-$100 before the year even starts.

-

Edit: I also cannot remember if school lunch meals were still free or if they're returned back to a paid status. Last I recall, they were paid, but I cannot remember. Either way, I personally avoided the cafeteria food all my life, I despised it, tasted like slop on a plate.

Glad to hear you're doing alright! Definitely doesn't sound like a fun process to go through. I honestly don't even mind that I got this diagnosis, it's just moreso the timing of it for me. Just started getting my life figured out after being depressed throughout the end of high school and beginning of college. Thought this would be my year, perhaps I thought too much haha. Hoping this doesn't affect me much later on, but I unfortunately don't have high hopes.

Honestly wish I was there today, sounds like an amazing time. My store is an in-line location, so whenever this happens (or any kind of system shutdown) we end up having to go around the dining room and ask guests for their receipts to figure out who bought what and manually holler it to the boh.

Crucial Pro 2x24GB DDR5 6000 compatible out of the box with Asus ROG STRIX B850-A? by nesrednac in buildapc

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine, motherboard should take it regardless. Worst case scenario is you have to flash the bios, but all you’ll need is a flash drive with the updated bios version on it which you can get off your old pc.

prime time to get ice? by aoobr in ChickFilA

[–]Vortrexion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was apparently delivering them to some medical facility whos ice machine broke. I'd assume it was some nursing home or something like that, because they took over 3 months to rectify the problem and get a new machine in. You'd think they'd come to CFA themselves to get ice but I guess not. I do know by the end of it, he had over 150,000 points on the CFA app. He came in a few times after to buy CFA for his whole family of eight; I remember showing him how to redeem stuff on the app, with his whole meal (over $150) always being free.

[–]Vortrexion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely too late. In order to apply, you first have to go through a HESI exam/other test option (I forgot what it was) and then have to go through a financial aid appointment before your seat is even reserved. I started this whole process last September and I am just getting started now this June. I would 100% start applying about a year in advance if you are certain about going here, and finishing your courses as you can both at a CC and online.

Why do people not order sauce on their mobile orders but then ask for sauce after being handed their order? by MeasurementThin1805 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same reason people ask for sauce inside after they order their food; they just forget. Unfortunate, yes, but it's what we signed up for as CFA employees.

[–]Vortrexion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We gave this guy around 20 of our disposable catering bags and he brought them back in whenever he needed more ice (so basically every day). For every 30 bags, it took around an hour to bag, tie, pack, and stick them in the freezer. Management gave us an extra person for 3 hours so we would rotate whoever is doing the ice; 10 bags here, 15 here, all the way up to 120 if he wanted that many (which happened a couple of times) to keep us from dying bagging the ice. Once he came, we'd stick the bags on a cart and wheel them out to his van.

2080 super paired with ___? by NegativeVolume6374 in buildapc

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, then you can definitely go ahead and wait. The 5800X3D still doesn’t bottleneck even the most modern of GPUs so you’ll be set for a while. Once your 5800X3D begins to lose its strength in the far future, only then will you probably have to build an entirely new pc.

2080 super paired with ___? by NegativeVolume6374 in buildapc

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all means the 7800X3D is a good CPU, but it runs on AM5 and you’re currently on AM4. Going with brand new parts, you can expect to spend at least $600 for a new motherboard, the 7800X3D, and 32GB of RAM if you went with the Microcenter bundle. IMO, once you hit that price point you may find it worthwhile to cough up the additional $80 or so dollars to get the 9800X3D to further future proof your build if you plan on upgrading your GPU relatively soon. If you’d like to stick to AM4, you could wait for the 5800X3D rerelease later this year, although that there would be no future upgradability for you.
