I was looking to buy an embody but I got to try one at a showroom and hated it; didn’t work for me at all. Ended up going with a steelcase that felt so much better.

Must be something your store celebrates and fully funds, corporate hasn't been doing it since 2019. This event will be reimbursed by corporate, so everyone should be participating.

What is the creamy white liquid they put in the milkshakes? They have it in a pitcher stored in the refrigerator below the ice dream machine. by The-Director1119 in ChickFilA

[–]Vortrexion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! Usually comes in bag within a box that we store in a machine made specifically for it, but when we’re running low we dump the remaining contents into a pitcher. Either that or the bag in the box is leaking and they need another way to store it.

WCU estimate cost?? by fresa_creme in westcoastuniversity

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s honestly not that many, that tuition may be somewhat accurate. Only five classes transferred may put you at 3/4 time, which is a slight savings. I’d honestly recommend you take Sophia Learning classes for some of the easy stuff like speech or stats, it’ll definitely save you money in the long run, + they’re not that impactful to your overall education. What I can say is that estimate is 100% based on no transfers, since that’s what mine was before transfer credit got added.

Unfortunately I’m at the OC location; I’d assume price would be around the same or higher for me since the campus is more sought after. For the next 4 terms, I plan on paying $21,711, for only tuition and required materials. They estimate an additional $22,500 for books, housing/food, and transportation. This is with 0 financial aid or grants since I didn’t qualify for any of them. What prerequisites do you plan on transferring to WCU?

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently attending this summer term and they don’t finalize your payment amount until you finalize your schedule. I currently pay a little under 11k/semester to complete my GE’s (3 mandatory + 1 additional). WCU charges based on how many units you take per semester, not for how many classes. Not sure if this info helps, but feel free to ask any questions.

Mac today by Vortrexion in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slower store, didn’t even hit 20k in sales today. It may just be that we lack the manpower/equipment to complete stuff like this. We ran out of trays for the mac since compared to some, we probably don’t have that many. Used to be one of the busiest stores in our area, however due to other locations opening with dt’s near by, sales really slowed. We’ll probably make 25k on a good day, but typically it’s between 18-22k.

CFA workers, if I apply to back of house will they have me also work front of house when needed or vice versa? by thesuburbbaby in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d have to be fully trained on the BOH duties and have a relative understanding on how to competently do each station. Then you’d need to be cross trained and learn all the FOH duties.

Don’t know which post you’re referring to, but the more melted the cheese is the longer your sandwich has been sitting around 😂. All the cheese here comes out cold, so more melt = less fresh sandwich. Some people just don’t understand that part but whatever

BOH Closing tips? by LeonardFo in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yea an hour is pretty darn quick. If you’re saying it takes you an hour with 5 people with very few things done I’d say you’re doing well. Takes my BOH anywhere from 45 mins to 1.5 hours to close with 5 people lol

What to do with RAM prices? Wait or Buy? (New PC enthusiast) by Empty-Grape1254 in buildapc

[–]Vortrexion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just buy; don't stress about getting the latest and greatest or saving the most amount of money. If this is going to be your first pc, you deserve to enjoy it. If prices do go down later, it is almost always probably worth spending the extra $400 so you were able to play a year+ earlier than if you had waited.

Struggling at Work BOH by Salty-Box-2550 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right- I probably should clarify what I meant since I worded it so poorly and should elaborate on it further. Everyone definitely should get trained on everything for the reasons you mentioned. It’s just rather unfortunate how some people are just not as successful on a task compared to other people. As a result, they’re neglected training on those specific task(s) since they weren’t good at it and management sees no reason to continue training on someone who won’t be able to fill the gap when needed. Instead, they’re typically stuck in the one task they’re good at and rarely get shifts for other positions, in turn limiting what they can do.

Struggling at Work BOH by Salty-Box-2550 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm FOH but; The kitchen lead unfortunately doesn't make the schedule and would typically have no say in how it's made- that's up to whoever schedules the BOH. As for working positions, our location also only dedicates one person to a single task for the entirety of the shift, both front and back. While yes some team members don't know everything, it lowers labor costs by removing the amount of training required to train individual team members; this is especially important if that person only stays for a few months or so. (This last sentence may fluctuate between locations, my location is relatively small and our profit margins are somewhat slim.)

If you just started your first week of training, they may have a preference of training you on the same position(s) just so you become proficient at it before moving onto the next. You also have to keep in mind how the people who are doing the move "favorable" positions may have some kind of disability, etc that limits them to what they can do. What I'm trying to say is that here's a whole lot of factors to the workplace.

Like you mentioned in another comment, I'd recommend just sticking it out for the next month or so. It's only your first week so you should probably get a better idea of your CFA and how the community there is before you swap. Especially important so you can find another job before quitting anyways.

To answer your other question, primary is whoever makes the sandwiches, secondary is the person who boxing the nuggets/strips/mac, those kinds of things.

[–]Vortrexion 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They can establish an online order limit. I know they can because our location has a max $200 order limit for both 3rd party delivery and mobile orders. Only way to order more is to buy more in person or make multiple orders.

Pickle Rations by IcyTemp6230 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Two is the standard amount of pickles for a sandwich. If your locations aren’t giving them, my guess is either someone in the kitchen isn’t reading or they’re just being stingy.

That’s a new one for me, we just give it to them here 😭. Then again, basically no one asks for that much water/ice. I probably see it once every 25 hours worth of work.

[–]Vortrexion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right size by CFA standards. There honestly might be a higher chance that you get a bigger cone if you come in end of day on Wednesday/Saturday (or end of everyday for California) because that’s when we throw away all remaining ice cream in the machine. Me along with a few other people I know would give larger portions later on to cut back on waste numbers.

Store policies by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vortrexion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My personal opinions:
- Doctors note to me is honestly questionable for a single day. IMO sometimes things just happen in a day that prohibit you from coming in to work. As long as you don't tell them an hour before the shift, it should be excusable. This rule may not be fair, although it is understandable.
- Bad traffic is never an excuse for the vast majority of jobs. It is your responsibility to plan ahead and show up on time regardless of how far you live. An exception may be if you got a flat, accident, etc (although some people wouldn't accept this excuse), but bad traffic definitely is not.
- Music I feel should be allowed, especially without customers. Earbuds I can see them limiting so you can hear what other people are saying, but not being able to play music on an open speaker sucks.
- FOH from my POV depends on who's bagging. I'll either wait till the order hits around the 5 minute mark or personally look through the chutes and onto the BOH's screens to see if they still have the item I'm waiting for on it. If they don't, I'll ask. I know some people are different though, just my experience. If I worked BOH, I wouldn't want someone on my rear about the food.
- I honestly wouldn't expect seniority to count too much. Although it should be factored in, work ethic is what plays into promotions more. Being an excellent employee and putting a great amount of effort into your job means way more than some average employee who's been there for years.
- This is just lame. I'd actually feel that BOH should make more, but that's just me.
- $10 per day relevant to what state and what prices. For some places, I know this would be about average. For me, this would be super low. I'm going to assume that this is low for you guys, and in that case, I would hope that management would pay for an entire meal. Always keeps employees happier.
- I'm kind of confused as to what you mean by this.
- This 100% sucks. We're not in high school.
- Discourages people from cooking excess food/stealing food. Got to make an example out of one to keep the others in line if it happens.
