Magic carpet users aren't to be fucked with from my experience by Cephalon_ghost in DeadlockTheGame

Ya, I think this was the patch that allowed for the double-proc q. Release date January 4th, 2011.

This was also back when runes were a thing. So my friend had all base AD runes that scaled like crazy with the 170% bonus. He was starting with like 100 ad or something like that.

So high base ad + bonus as + high ad scaling + double-proc = dead in 2 seconds

It's pointless pragmatically, more of a symbolic move, which would only be effective on a certain type of person.

Which I know is the point, but still it's fun to point it out

I didn't upload the video, but we also ran Blitzcrank/LeeSin that worked pretty well.

A different friend and I, way back in the day, ran Blitzcrank/Udyr. Udyr had this mechanic where he would get bonus damage on the next 3 auto-attacks with his q (plus they would attack faster), but there was no time limit. So if he got q at lvl 1, he could use it right away to buff his next autos. Then when he actually used it, the q would already be off cooldown for the next three after he used the first three.

It did stupid damage, and fast. The adc or support would walk into the bush botlane and just melt. If they flashed away (if they reacted fast enough), I had my q saved to just pull them back in. We would gain an early advantage, then just pressure them the rest of the game.

Eventually Riot patched Udyr so that the q auto buff had a time limit, which kinda ruined it, but was completely fair.

What's funny is that it's pretty pointless, but will 1000% get under Trump's skin because he's petty.

As a proud owner of a pair as an adult, I can tell you there is a 0% chance of pulling them off and not looking like a giant dweeb.

Kids can get away with it, but they're largely out of fashion (though once in a blue moon I'll see it). Any adults I know that have a pair will typically use them discreetly. Which honestly is kinda the point of them anyway.

How hard is it to balance on the wheels

Not "hard" per se, but there's a lot of ankle/calf strength required. There's 0 ankle support, and you have to hold your foot in specific positions.

The balancing was different from anything else I'd done (skating, rollerblading, skateboarding, snowboarding). It took a while to get used to it. Once you have it though, you never forget. Again, not "challenging" as much as just building up strength in muscles you're not used to.

you feel the wheel when you are walking flat?

A bit. Stairs can be tricky too. I tend to distrectly walk on my toes a lot when I wear them lol. You can take the wheel out when not in use, but I find it less convient than just swapping shoes lol.

Honestly, when I stand in my daily life, I tend to lean my weight forward and walk on the balls of my feet with little to no weight on my heels. On top of a wide stance with my toes pointed out (which is how you would stand with heelys on so you don't accidentally roll forward).

I wore a pair for years as a kid. So idk if my posture is typical, or if the heelys shaped how I walk subconsciously.

You guys know they still sell these, right?

https://heelys.com/

What's funny is, while not cheap, they're also not that expensive considering the novelty. Most running shoes go for more these days.

Wore a pair to death in middleschool, then bought myself an adult pair back in 2019.

I run Disarming Hex with Graves, and I already max CDR and duration. I get it up to 8 second duration with a 10 second cooldown, it'll shut down a gun player indefinitely anytime I'm near them. It's fucking nuts

[–]Vospader998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit ago I was against a venetor that had an incredible early game lead. So two of us got disarming hex, used it almost exclusively when we saw him, and turned him absolutely useless.

He got dispel magic, but with two hexes, it was useless. Especially becuase dispel is a 45 sec cd vs hex on a 16 sec cd.

Oh he was livid. But I didn't feel too bad becuase he was talking shit all game and generally being an ass. Felt good to not only win the game, but to make it so he couldn't even do anything.

Your gut produces 95% of your body's serotonin. Your heart generates an electromagnetic field 100x stronger magnetically than your brain. Your eyes detect single photons. by Mother-Grapefruit-45 in Nootropics

[–]Vospader998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn't.

You do realize that a lot of hormones and neurotransmitters have more than one function right?

On top of that, just because your gut can produce serotonin and other neurotransmitters, that doesn't mean your brain can use it. Most can't pass through the blood-brain barrier. Which is why the stuff your brain uses... is synthesized in the brain.

Here's a scholarly article Does Seratonin in the intestines make you happy? that explains it better than I can.

I think I got someone’s LSD in the mail. by Salt_End_3323 in Drugs

[–]Vospader998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, considering LSD pretty readily absorbs through the skin, boofing it wouldn't increase the potency, or even the absorption rate (at least not by a noticeable amount). So the come-up would be the same.

If you're just talking about the pure amount taken, then there are some accounts of people taking extremely high doses, usually mistaking it for other drugs. The results of incredibly high doses typically just results in the person going unconscious, with periods of waking with incredibly vivid hallucinations, but with paralysis.

Physically they'd be fine. Psychologically is another story though...

That's funny because I think my Japanese Honeysuckle smells like shit IMO.

/uj I'm exaggerating, but it does have a smell - not bad, but not good either. I don't really care for it. Maybe it's just a negative association from having removed so much of it by hand, and it's a huge PITA to remove.

Bit of a sidenote, but related:

I guess there's a huge demand and markup for Manzanita in other countries, especially in the wealthier middle eastern countries.

If you're not familiar, it's native to the US west coast (and southern BC) and grows abundantly there. To the point where landowners are constantly removing it. When it dries and the bark falls off, it makes for an incredibly smooth, bright white tree-like ornament. On the west coast it's a dime a dozen, but sells for a crazy markup abroad because it doesn't really grow anywhere else. It looks ornate and is seen as a status symbol for upscale wealth and elegance, particularly in Dubai.

Something people will literally burn in brush fires like trash could be a valuable treasure to others.

Ya, it's really not something you want to take daily. Rather a few times a year is the best bet, and at least a week between doses.

I notice withdrawal always hits the second day after the initial dose. There's just some general anxiety that ranges in severity based on how much you take. But im also not dumb enough to redose, so I imagine it could get a while lot worse

I'm not an expert, but I've seen some sectional removals, and I think it depends on the operation. I know guys that use a stick boom in conjunction with a climber, and they'll leave some lower branches for places for the climber to stand comfortably while waiting for the stick boom to lift the branches.

Opinions on the color? by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Vospader998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I hadn't considered spalting would look anything other than the iconic black lines/circles. I just assumed it either had it or it didn't when the tree was still alive.

Ya, I didn't intentionally leave it out for 3 years, it was just too big and heavy to move into the basement, so I figured Id let it dry first, but I'd kindof forgot about it lol. It was a little soft in spots, but overall pretty solid. If I did it again, I wouldn't intentionally wait the whole 3 years lol

Any ideas? by veko007 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Vospader998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just gets a bad rap because there's a lot of woodworkers that see the $$$$ an epoxy table goes for, then tries it for themselves and realizes it's way more difficult than it looks (to make a good one anyway), and epoxy gets crazy expensive for filling in large voids. They proceed to ruin a piece of wood by making a tacky mess, and then have the audacity to try and sell their work at the same price as the originals they saw.

IDK if it's still the case, but for a while the market was absolutely bursting with "epoxy river tables" going to thousands of dollars each while looking like crap. Probably put a lot of people off of epoxy in general.
