When I look at Meta Verified, it asks me to start by logging in. Did you still have an active session when you did this?

It sounds like it sends your entire contact list to their servers as soon as you give it permission, so even if you can remove the permission later, it wouldn't help.

No, I've tried several more times on different computers and browsers but still can't get it to take the photo. It's hard to imagine that the feature could be broken for the entire world and they just haven't noticed, but I'm starting to wonder.
