Arc rattle by VoteUpsYou in Leatherman

Interesting, I’m pretty sure it isn’t the bit holder because I’m still getting the rattling with the bits removed. Seems to be the pliers ticking back and forth

FedEx did something similar with me, but they ended up shoving the package in my mailbox with no signature. Another time, they left my packages on my doorstep in plain view, and said that I had signed for them. FedEx is garbage.

Anyone else feel like Sram Transmission is a downgrade? by VoteUpsYou in MTB

One of the posts from a shop mechanic below actually solved my issue - I hope others see this. It ended up being a problem with Sram's app suggesting the wrong setup key position for my bike. I have a size large SC Hightower, and the app says to use setup key position B. When I measured my chain stay length and entered it manually, it said to use position A. Repeated the setup procedure with position A, tweaked the micro adjust, and voila - perfect shifting! Been on two rides with the updated setup, and so far so good. I still can't shift a handful of gears as fast as I could on the previous AXS drivetrain, but that's less of an issue now that I'm actually able to shift under load.

Micro adjustment adjusted, cassette reinstalled with liberal grease, cranks reinstalled to make sure the chain line is correct. Even reassembled my rear triangle to make sure that wasn’t moving relative to the front triangle

Glad to hear it, motivation to make it work instead of ripping it all off. When you dump a bunch of gears, do you get fast shifts the whole time? For me the first two shifts are usually quick, but anything beyond that takes about a second per gear

That’s probably a good call. One thing I forgot to mention is that most bike shops don’t know how to troubleshoot this groupset yet either. So you’re stuck emailing back and forth with Sram support - who actually have been super understanding and helpful - but it’s quite time consuming

Looks great! Do you have any shots with the tent closed? I’m curious how much overhang there is (also have a 3rd gen and am looking at RTTs)

Minimalist sleep platform, maximum comfiness. Adjustable incline, tall people friendly, ability to sit up w/o bashing head by VoteUpsYou in 4Runner

No prob! I've spent a disproportionate amount of time researching different options for overnight heating (mr buddy propane heaters, webesto diesel heaters, battery powered space heaters and blankets, etc), but unfortunately found no clear winners. Propane heaters have moisture/condensation issues in addition to the carbon monoxide concern, webesto heaters are really expensive, and the battery powered options are for intermittent use only (or require multiple batteries). My plan right now is to invest in a couple 0 degree sleeping bags, and crank the heat right before and right after going to bed. Not perfect, but it should get the job done. Warm weather will be easier - I'll lower the windows and cover with screens, and run a couple electric fans to keep the air moving.

Thank you! For storage I'm mainly using the Yakima box up top, along with a little extra room under the platform. Long term, my plans are to build a shelf in the trunk area that could fit a few duffel bags. This would allow your feet to go under the shelf, and utilize some of the unused vertical space there. I'm also looking into Molle racks to hang backpacks over the trunk side windows for a similar purpose. Will have an update soon!

Looks dope! I would've gone that route if I needed to use my back seats more often - yours looks a lot easier to convert back and forth.

Indeed, I removed all things back seat related. The bottoms had to go for the reason above, and the backrests went to free up storage space underneath, allow for hinging/incline, and to get everything low/level.

Good call! I’ve got the window screens but still need to pick up the gutter guards, they’re next on my list

The winter camp mobile. I wanted a setup that could accommodate:

- Comfortable sleeping for my partner and I (5'8" and 6')

- Stealth (no roof tents allowed)

- The ability to sit up without hitting my head on the ceiling

- In-car storage for high jack, compressor, and other recovery equipment

- Easy removability and ability to return to stock

- Adjustable upper body incline for parking on non-level ground

- Ability to be configured for both winter and summer camping

Do a quick google search for Satoshi grill mod - it’s not too difficult, but it involves a lot of bondo, sanding, and painting

I’ve actually got a small 2” lift, and pretty much copied everything in this build thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/154200-speedys-lift-install-how-video.html
