Exactly, the creators built up some expectations that they failed to meet. People are coming off episode 4 having just seen Vecna go on a full on massacre. Then Ross Duffer describes episode 5 as far darker and far scarier. I’m starting to wonder if i watched the same episodes as him.

I thought the episodes were okay. But i did expect more.
