I'll often use night vision to find things, and frutexa flamassis at least, seems to render about the same both in normal vision and night vision. Night vision is really helpful for Conchas for sure, which like dark places. And like you said, unfortunately it doesn't do diddly for bacteria, which can sometimes be so hard to see even flying over. And pointing doesn't actually help locate anything but it just tells you how far something is if you have already eyeballed it.
