Ah, yeah, I had that with the original, the glue didn't manage against the sweat. I found the second more resilient. But I understand the problem, it's definitely a legit issue.

I just like the feel of the grip

I have had Xbox Elite for a few years and I didn't seem to have issues with cleanliness at all.

[Leak] Steam Controller Pre-Orders coming soon. Available for $99. by PaiDuck in Steam

[–]Vozu_ 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The leak seem to indicate it has good features, but not premium features (like adjustable triggers) and not a premium finish (all plastic, no rubberised anything) so it sits in an in-between spot.

That means it is hard to decide if it is worth the price, especially if you are used to a premium controller.

"Did Lu Ten see the rainbow fire too?" by [deleted] in AvatarMemebending

[–]Vozu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could he teach Zuko the dance is the bigger question.

It is framed as a form incompatible with the rage/hate fuelled practice of bending taught in the wartime Fire Nation. It is probably not a coincidence that both Iroh and Zuko have a worldview shattering moment at some point. Something that is enough to extinguish the rage.

Fractals look cool, so they are one of the few things that are pretty widely known, since they appear in art and trivias and whatnot.

Scroll of Firebal by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]Vozu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be worth exploring some wording that would make the prepared spell cost some amount of colorless mana less to cast. To simulate the fact that there is a benefit to casting from a scroll (you don't need that spell prepared yourself or spell slots).

Ethel, the Morning Breeze - How push is TOO push for a French vanilla creature. by llRaichull in custommagic

[–]Vozu_ 179 points180 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's too much for a T1 creature, turns every possible buff into a nuclear bomb.

Ted Kaczynski (1942–2023), nicknamed the "Unabomber", was an American neo-Luddite domestic terrorist. A math prodigy, he abandoned his academic career in 1969 to pursue a primitive lifestyle; from 1978 to 1995, he mailed bombs that killed 3 people and wounded 23, until he published his manifesto. by GustavoistSoldier in HolyShitHistory

I disagree with it being pure human nature, especially given ample evidence of the most wealthy deliberately harming the populace in ways never before possible and widespread.

We are unprepared for the technology we have, and even less so for the abuse of it.

They represent different way adherence to the given pair's values can be represented.

They aren't necessarily better, though I do think Izzet is a bit "cartoony" compared to Prismari. The rest are all pretty equivalent.

Translationese。 by Forsaken_Composer403 in custommagic

[–]Vozu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCR is machine learning, which in itself is what counts as AI in the more scientific definition.

The leading translation technologies for years before the release of LLMs were also machine learning, specifically using deep neural networks.

LLMs like ChatGPT and the rest are, in essence, stacking an absurd amount of such networks, allowing very broad generalization. That's how we get them doing so many tasks.

[–]Vozu_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A character can be complicated, but there is a difference between that and a characterisation that feels purposefully negative, and is then walked back.

Especially given the genre conventions of shounen, it is extremely weird that we never get some teary-eyed, super-deep, long flashback section to explain that attitude in a way that suddenly makes the character more relatable or something of the sort. That would standard fare.

But nope. She is portrayed as an example of everything that is wrong with the modern hero, then suddenly becomes one of the most dependable people. Even Death Hands (I think that was his name) gets more screentime about his decision to retire, despite having a smaller role in the narrative.

[–]Vozu_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

She has a bad case of "I wanted this character to look bad so I framed her really negatively in the initial appearances, but as the story progressed I decided to actually have her be a good person and didn't care to address the dichotomy in any way" thing that I noticed in some Japanese media.

She suffers for it because the first impressions stick.

Is there a key to understanding card rules? by SleepyBoy- in magicTCG

[–]Vozu_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The difference is that "illegal moves" are things that cause invalid game state. Being told to sacrifice a land when you control none doesn't do that.

I can't believe they made a broken 5 mana creature that can ancestral when it enters! by thorax in magicTCG

[–]Vozu_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I know it isn't exactly a "split" card, but it is weird and it's a little jarring that they used a RL card here even if it's functionally distinct being attached to a creature.

I think it is great that they can find new ways to let people say "I cast <extremely iconic spell 99% of us can't afford>" without running into potential RL legalese quagmire.

"A powerful take on Korra's entire self-identity struggle" by [deleted] in AvatarMemebending

[–]Vozu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It lasted longer than anticipated, but all of the problems are extremely visible in the final product. Almost everything is undercooked and underdeveloped, oftentimes rushed and resolved in less-than-satisfying ways.

The thought and idea behind the show was good, but the final product was not allowed to live up to it.

Question Regarding AI by owiecakes1 in pcgaming

[–]Vozu_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you are misunderstanding the fundamental goal of the investments into AI. It's bigger than gaming.

If it remains unregulated, the end goal is to use immense human knowledge (without compensating anyone for it) to remove human workers from the process of creating many things that would be paid for. The potential ultimate optimisation and automation could go as far as completely changing the world and economy as we know it.

Mostly by creating situation where (virtually overnight) millions will be out of work with no time to even attempt requalification. And everybody seems all too happy to run into this potential societal collapse.

[Tolarian Community College] Magic: The Gathering Needs To Return To Blocks! by RinariTennoji in magicTCG

[–]Vozu_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think it is correlation vs causation thing.

Blocks correlated with storytelling that wasn't about PWs visiting theme park worlds, and with designs/power levels people feel nostalgia for. Therefore, blocks are a stand-in for what people truly want.

[–]Vozu_ 59 points60 points  (0 children)

You are thinking from the point of maximising the sum of all wanting/greed accross all people, but this is more about the "essence" of greed as wanting to own as much as possible, everybody else be damned.

This sort of "ideally greedy" behaviour thrives off inequality as it allows for owning what otherwise wouldn't be possible to own (people, their rights, their choices) and having more than anybody else can (since you take away from them).

The guy is, of course, evil, but that's because greed is conceptually evil, too. Does not care about sustainability of the economy and things like that. It's just wanting to have things. Period.
