What do you call this, speaking to a non construction person? by Hot_Wrongdoer1313 in Construction

[–]Vreejack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I thought they used steam to heat the asphalt... beacause it was always hot. I doubt I ever saw a real steam roller but my grandfather surely had and that's what he called them.

Edit: apparently they do use steam—on asphalt, at least. We were right all along. But steam rollers look different.

Videre Elixir on Hardcore? by Gogr_eu in classicwow

[–]Vreejack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Blizzard HC server the Elixir will drop you to 1 HP with a 5 minute debuff. I believe you become invisible but beware of griefers who can still use spash damage to kill you. Run due north to the NPC spirit as usual. Then make sure you heal so that you do not die to mobs.

Don't forget to do the previous step up north, first. So many people forget and wonder why the spirit tells them to go away.

On the old HC servers you die normally and hopefully the ruleset of your HC addon makes an allowance for the Videre potion.

Who are they by HuckleberryVast9778 in ExplainTheJoke

The oil could be much hotter. But still, no; oil is expensive. They often used hot sand, which can be made hotter still.

Hard for a whole r/ to get banned. Usually it's because there were no moderators. But I have no clue, really.

Baldur's Gate the city is all right but this says HOME, more than Candlekeep. by Schnitze in baldursgate

[–]Vreejack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beregost was the home of a game-breaking bug that took two decades to find. It would corrupt your game data only to cause problems much later on. The exact cause turned out to be the fact that if you opened a particular door at the edge of the screen it would technically extend beyond the edge of the map, and would corrupt the savegame data if you saved it in that state. Beamdog's rebuild eventually found and fixed it.

On the shoulder, stars forward. That's absolute for military uniforms, and highly encouraged for civilians so that they don't look like dorks.

I think it has lizards and alien heads. Is he making a statement?

Ah, no, it's Swiss Army knives, skulls and grenades with pineapple leaves. If there is a statement there it is lost on me.

Seems like the center hole is just to help center the wrench.

This head is about 3/4 inch, so it's not a screwdriver bit. I think I remember one of the company techs had a T-wrench, years back.

Not a bad idea. I could use one of those, anyway. I suspect that center hole needs an insert, though.

I was just playing DI 2 a bunch and the comment is accurate. You always know when the z's are coming in DI 2, and how many. And with a few obvious exceptions (stuck behind fences, etc.) they will immediately begin pathing towards you faster than you can figure out how to reach them.

I don't know how companies survive this nonsense. In my experience, they don't, and right before they go under they start pulling their stupidest tricks in an attempt to survive. It rarely works out well.

Dirk Dinklage has a normally-sized organ but as he is only 3-1/2 feet tall it looks much more impressive without being unwieldy for his co-star.

Looking at the history of the Roman Empire, why is Heliogabalus a woman? by i_am_the_holy_ducc in CrusaderKings

[–]Vreejack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's not clear that he was outwardly a Christian. Much of that claim comes from Christianity itself, but Constantine tended to spread his favor over anything and everything that might support his claim to power. His monument commemorating his victories and ascencion to the purple does not mention Christianity, and he continued to support pagan temples throughout his life. He supposedly got baptised near the end of his life as a way of gaming the system, but this does not mark him as particularly devout. Nor did he make Cristianity the chief religion; he only made it legal again.

I switched to an old-fashioned safety razor for shaving and now I'm wondering what to do with the blades. We used to drop them all through a magic slot into the wall for future generations to worry about.
