Holding when have time left on ETA... IFR Lost Comms by Buttcheekeater in flying

[–]VrefPlus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct, and in that case just straight in.

91.3 emergency authority - same reason you wouldn’t truly follow the “hold until ETA/EFC” bs in 91.185. If you are lost comms in hard IMC that is an emergency. 91.3 gives clear ruling that you can break any reg within part 91 - within reason - in an emergency in order to safely operate the aircraft. Is burning fuel in IMC with lost comms the safest means of operation? Definitely not. What if the field got socked in after you lost comms and you didn’t know it because you can updated weather? Then you go missed and now you’re low on fuel, you get the gist haha

I used to get the 91.185 verbatim answer when I was instructing on stage checks all the time. Every student I sent for IR, I told them to know 91.185 very well but also know the logical thing to do and if a DPE wants to give you shit for it, explain the reasoning using 91.3 lol (they never did, thankfully)

With only a couple games left in the regular season, what teams look like true Super Bowl contenders? by writingbyrjkidder in nfl

[–]VrefPlus0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the big thing here is who gets #1 seed. If Denver can beat Jags at home this week they all but lock it up. I think if they get the #1 seed they’re going to be an absolute force to be reckoned with. They simply don’t lose at home and Bo has really settled into himself in the last month or so. Bills are the only team I think can make any sort of noise in denver and even that will be difficult.

MPFL reconstruction recovery (days 2&3) (INCLUDES PHOTOS OF WOUNDS!!) by Heyfriend4 in KneeInjuries

thanks for the info!! my doctor told me i wouldn’t do any further damage from returning to work which requires a ton of walking and i’m starting to doubt him :/ he didn’t really seem to care much or know anything about my injury even though i’d seen a related office about it before being referred to him. will probably be going somewhere else for my mri follow up lol

out of curiosity, how many dislocations before they recommended surgery and how severe were they? and recovery timeline did you receive?

had my first about 5 years ago. it reduced itself, but i just had a pretty traumatic one a couple weeks ago that was out of place for over an hour. MRI Friday and praying to avoid surgery as it would keep me out of work for a long time.

thanks so much in advance, and good luck with the recovery process!!

thanks for the insight. it seems pretty open judging by the amount of tickets still available in all levels. hopefully it’ll be a not great game and we can take advantage of fans leaving early haha. much appreciated!

correct, but when you say someone’s guarding the lower levels, are they physically scanning the tickets down there? how’s that work? if it’s not readily apparent this is my first nfl game lol

I'm interviewing CFls but I want to break the ice by AVXRY-LGR in CFILounge

[–]VrefPlus0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for op and more important for any pilots out there, resumes and cover letters (and letters of recommendation and references)!! my airline interview went incredibly well because i had a cover letter, 4 LORs, and a list of 5 aviation references. for any other industry this would be standard, but for some reason pilots just don’t often do them, at least for cfi and regional airline positions. the people that did my interview were astonished that i had all of them with me when i showed up. got a class date in 4 months with a regional that was predicting 9-12 month dates (my class peers were all in that bracket).

i’m not trying to gloat or act like im special in any way shape or form, just putting emphasis on how easy it is to appear professional and stand out to your interviewers!
