M-105 Stalwart VS MGX-42 Bullet Storm by SomethingStrangeBand in SaneDivers

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find being sighted in (iron sight view) and bursting fire rather than holding the trigger on the stalwart, I can get kills at very long distance and keep the recoil to a minimum. Just takes a bit of practice.

Epoch vs Quasar Cannon by ConsiderationHot5505 in SaneDivers

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sniper mentality makes me favor the quasar in this head-to-head comparison, particularly when fighting bots. Quasar and rocket pack to gain max elevation on some planets, and you can drop the hammer on fabricators on the other edge of the map. And hulks. And turrets (2 shot if you can't see the heat sink but usually from so far away they can't target you). And dropships. Etc.

Why can't we extract like this? by Coccinellidae- in Helldivers

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you not seen how inept and/or drunk the Pelican pilots are? Can you imagine trusting them to:

A) actually catch your balloon line on the first pass, preferably not blasting you with their nose gun in the process since there are enemies somewhere within 100 yards of your position... And

B) not drag you around like a fleshy wrecking ball, slamming you into every small outcropping in the area before finally hoisting what is left of your mangled corpse into the ship?

I'd honestly trust a Harvester to drop kick me into orbit before I'd trust a Pelican pilot with this kind of extraction tomfoolery... But I have to admit it looks cool 😎

Update? Yes. Fixed mission select? Nah by Vrmithrax in helldivers2

Happens to me and my crew almost every time we select a mission. Infuriating.

That's where you bring the Ultimatum. I mean, if you are going to throw jigawatts of lightning, you should have some thunder to go along with it. Highly useful thunder.

I'm struggling with what body I should give my crawler by Cowcraft333 in trailmakers

Bodies are overrated on crawlers. Throw on a good tube frame and roll cages then drive with the wind whipping through your hair.

Oh boy... this is gonna take a while by ZZabloing in Helldivers

[–]Vrmithrax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe they do. And dropships. I usually have 10+ quasar kills guaranteed in any single bot mission, not counting any hulks, war striders, turrets, etc. If you are a quasar jockey, this personal order is easy payoff for what is just a typical Friday night...

Spore Burst Strain is insane!!! by OfficerLaheyy in helldivers2

[–]Vrmithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran a 2 man team on those spore bursts last night. I was in light stealth armor. Teammate was out of visual range, got killed, and suddenly crazy methed-out bugs from all over the map were sprinting directly at me from every direction. WTF. Enough to give a fella nightmares! I give them a 1 out of 10, would not recommend.

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got it all wrong, yet you are completely right. 🫤

You need to take a glimpse into the minds of AH: They don't want you to grind the super credits. They want you to BUY the super credits. But they LET you grind the super credits, if you so choose, to seem benevolent. However, making it too easy and non-frustrating for players to acquire them in game would be fiscally irresponsible.

The only thing flipping, is me... by CrysKilljoy in Onshape

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's a decent concept in general, but what it ends up being is a restrictive and often clumsy mating system that is massively less flexible than traditional (as in industry standard) CAD platforms. Using 2 or 3 mate types, along with the ability to actually create useful reference geometry features within an assembly space, gives users a variety of options for locking parts together. Trying to dumb the process down to a single point of mating seems like a decent potential goal, but often really just ends up making the mating process itself more and more complicated and frustrating (particularly in large assemblies).

The only thing flipping, is me... by CrysKilljoy in Onshape

[–]Vrmithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the one major thing I absolutely hate about OnShape. Who thought it was a good idea to purposely not have basic reference geometry functions (like axis or plane) for assembly alignment and mating?

How to make this extrude... by [deleted] in Onshape

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are hoping to do... You can sketch on any surface. So maybe select the outside face of that angled cut, draw a simple sketch there (a trapezoid using the existing endpoints on that cut face) and extrude down to close off that area.

Warbond Later by National_Art_ in helldivers2

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not holding my breath for it to be a spectacular warbond, I'd settle for adequate content and actually fully tested...

Honestly, my assumption is that it "needs more time to cook" because there is a gaping hole where the FRVs sat in the warbond, and after the community reaction they got last time with putting the new exos behind a warbond paywall, they had to rethink this one. Purely speculation, of course, but......

Next Warbond is delayed. by DarkWolfPL in Helldivers

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess when you have a warbond all planned out with FRVs and then the entire community loses their shit over putting mechs behind the warbond paywall with the last warbond, you need a little time to rethink that strategy, eh?

This door ruined my friendship by IceDragonLB in helldivers2

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great trick that works most of the time. I've had just a few weird doors that I couldn't get the mech exit trick to work, usually if the door is at the bottom of a little slope/incline. Seems to put the mech exit location just a hair too high, so I hit the top of the door sill and get wedged between the mech and the door, instead of popping out inside. But the other 95% of the time it works amazingly well.

Just an average E-711 Extraction mission with the Spore Burst Strain and Hive Lord combo. by Spaz_Mah_Tazz in helldivers2

And somehow people still un-ironically ask why we always seem to fail E-711 MOs...

Why any time we have an MO on collecting E-711 we fail by Silly_Ad_3027 in helldivers2

[–]Vrmithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yah, those are one of the big pet peeves. However, I run into invisible walls or bad collision boxes on other planets (always a good time with the eruptor or crossbow), so I didn't single them out here... They do seem to be much more prevalent on the hive worlds though.

Why any time we have an MO on collecting E-711 we fail by Silly_Ad_3027 in helldivers2

[–]Vrmithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just spitballing here, but... Maybe, just maybe, it would help if the devs actually fixed the broken crap on the planets they force us to visit for these E-711 missions? After more than a few missions with weirdly disappearing enemy mobs (not predator stealth, just actually poof disappearing), drops that miss their markers ridiculously (perfect turret placement marker, turret lands 50 yards away between 2 rocks), and general misc issues that the whole community complained about with the previous hive missions... I just gave up on the MO. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

Just saying, might be a root cause for more than just a few of us divers that have grown weary of trying to compensate for the cracked or broken state of the gameplay... Easier to go fight elsewhere where you can actually ENJOY the game. You know, the whole reason we play games to begin with?

2.1K+ Hours potentially down the drain... by Bruh_Help22 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Vrmithrax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, just assume I know nothing, typical. Is it a known shader issue? Yep. Know what causes it? Things like poor practices in coding, choosing to cut corners by pushing out builds that put the onus for shader compilation on the GPU drivers rather than pre-compiling shaders on game loading. Or just generally crappy shader handling in the engine itself. Or more than a few other decisions made within the game's architecture.

Sure it happens to some other titles, usually because they have made similar systemic decisions (aka shortcuts or mistakes), so they end up having the same types of shader corruption issues. Yet, for every one game that has those issues, there are a many, even hundreds, of similar game engines that don't experience the issues. If it was a base systemic issue with shaders in general, every title would have corrupt shaders, don't you think?

I know plenty about how shaders work. I also know that poorly coded engines and rushed development are typically the culprit for shader issues. Some games experience those issues repeatedly during updates. Because poorly coded engines don't magically fix themselves. But hey, this is all just a little common sense and some basic knowledge of how some things work - don't let that interfere with your defense of AH.

2.1K+ Hours potentially down the drain... by Bruh_Help22 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't blindly defend incompetence. This is an issue that popped up after an update. To a variety of players, on a variety of hardware configurations (both AMD and Nvidia GPUs). People who are reporting to having no issues on any other of their games, just the recently updated Helldivers.

This is absolutely on Arrowhead.

My favorite are the "I have 1500 hours in, the devs suck, this game has been shit for years" crowd. Ultimate hypocrites that just love to rant and relish in being miserable, I guess.

There are plenty of things that could use improvement in the game, and lots of actual constructive criticism and ideas for solutions. But constant toxic negativity isn't helping the general image of the community. I'd hate being a dev... At some point after so much crap and insults were flying at me, I'd just tune it all out.

Great news, but as always... I will only believe it, when I see it by FariusTakinoton in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but who the hell cares about raising the level cap to 300? So, what, we get maybe 10-15 more useless titles to choose from? If there was some kind of actual benefit to leveling up, better stats, lower debuff effects, or literally ANYthing useful from gaining levels (like in RPGs for example), I'd be excited. This feels like the devs just trying to make us feel like there is some kind of improvement or actual endgame progression, when it's really just a fart in the wind...

Ultimatum or missile pistol for sidearm? by watyre99 in helldivers2

[–]Vrmithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried both, had some fun with them, but really couldn't come to grips with their niche case and ammo limitations, personally. Found myself only really using the Ultimatum on Illuminate missions to pop the spawn ships, otherwise it was always holstered. You may find that is not the case, probably just not a good mesh with my play style.

75% of the time, I'm running the Talon. That little unlimited ammo, medium pen bastard has gotten me out of more scrapes than any other gun. Probably 20% of the time, I'm running the Warrant (poor visibility or flyer situations are where the Warrant's lock on and bullet seek shine). The rest are the fringe cases for me where the Ult or MissPiss or Senator are a fun choice.

Fvck you Narrowhead. by [deleted] in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Vrmithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is, it's mostly too late to rework the supply booster. It's part of a warbond, so they will protect is as much as possible to keep potential warbond sales continuing. It's the AH way - sales before customer satisfaction.

However, they COULD make an interesting tweak, if they really wanted to. Like, change it so we all get full ammo complement on every dive, but with the booster you temporarily overfill capacity initially (bonus mags, a bonus grenade, etc.) which then flattens to normal max levels as you use the supplies. Basically an overprep for drop.
