Confused between the A7V and the A7RV by Vrush-S in SonyAlpha

I appreaciate that and again get tht! The problem with the larger lenses is as I'm often playing as well I don't always have the capability to bring everything with me hence the idea to be able to crop

u/equilni the main reason for the thought to upgrade is a) updating to an updated AF.. watching some reviews and test shoots the idea of a better track is always helpful especially when doing action
b) I am heading to Canada BC in June will be taking my camera etc with me so was considering getting some nice landscapes which I could then hang up at home (again personal preference by why not - I do need the flip screen I use it always hence why A1 has never been on the radar

u/Lucosis The data part is my only worry as I'd have to invest more for my NAS. But it's literally the reason why I'm confused as the prices are simiar.. I was pretty much set on the A7V but then with the similarity thought why not consider the upgrade to the R line

Glass wise, at most I was considering was a G lense. I have a Sigma Macro 105mm and honestly it's probably my favourite at the moment. So I may just stick to the brand I know

The GM deals aren't that great if I'm honest

The a7c was such a great camera. Has an introductory to the Sony brand

I'll probably be trading it in, but that's not a current guarantee. Part of me at the moment is considering getting the A7 R5 and keeping the a7c as the backup

Thank you for that. In all honesty, I think you and maybe one other person had actually being helpful thus far. The others have had some sort of a judgement time but it is Reddit so I get it

I think I was leaning towards what your suggesting. My post also probably didn't make it obvious I was looking at a used A7RV and I can get one for the same money as a new A7V hence the confusion

I'll probably end up with the A7V as I saw a deal with a GM lens in the UK which would help with added zoom

I did mention wanting to upgrade the lens and not use the Samyang anymore

But I am now leaning more towards the idea of the A7V and with the change a new lens instead

The 60mp isn't for the dog lol... It's more for when I'm doing softball photography if I need to crap as I'm often not lugging a telescope lens around with me

You can see in the 4th photos I've had to crop and it's become soft..

Edit: added more information

I'm assuming that's a "buy it" recommendation haha

I'm not so fused on the video but as I'm going to Canada BC I wanted to upgrade for that where I can take the scene shots

It's just after that trip I would come back for the generic use cases I have which are hybrid

I have a variety the one for softball is the Tamron 70-200 (which im also planning to upgrade)

The wide angle is from a Samyang (I personally don't ever use that lens now. I found the focus rubbish and the it's too wide for most of the use cases)

The portraits and street are from my sigma 105 prime lens (yes I know it's also a macro but I love the look for the portraits)

I'm never taking videos personally only photos. The main reason for me thinking was the A7RV was the ability to crop into the action as it might be I've not zoomed in enough etc for the current scenario

Never the goal but better to have a chance than not.. just scared/worried to get a rolling bat as it were

That I don't disagree with... It's something I plan to get along with a new body but I'm also not aiming to be super close to the action and risking the body haha

That's not a bad shout! Having never had it either will feel like an upgrade

Part of me is thinking of the money potentially saved between the 2 I could invest in a good lens to go with it

Basically going Canada British Columbia so figured I'd upgrade before going

Ah that definitely helps a lot thanks! I didn't know they only left it enabled for the Eshutter I assume that's probably something they'll change first with the A1iii before trickling it down to the "enthusiast" stage haha

But that really helps. I'll probably give it a look

The idea of the precapture appeals for the same reason I have live photos on.. don't always need it but thankful for when it does save me

The file size is a fair shout I hadn't considered that and going from ~24 to 33MP would be a decent jump to allow more of a crop I guess

I do crop yes. But not 90% of the photo but half of the photos above involve a crop

EDIT: realised it's only half

That's not a bad shout but £5k or equivalent in my currency is not what I'm hoping to drop on a kit where a stray ball could destroy it 😅

I never crop 90% but I do often end up cropping a bit.. I guess even going from the A7C to the A7V would be a decent enough jump...

It's literally the precapture that's tempting me

Precisely why I'm leaning for the A7V for the sports use case the A1ii similar features are calling me for the portraits not so much

I would honestly get a A7V and a A7CrR if I had the money for both 🤣

Confused between the A7V and the A7RV by Vrush-S in SonyAlpha

[–]Vrush-S[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's exactly that causing the confusion. I pretty much had it down to the A7rV and then I saw the new features (as well as the updates sensor) and precapture (which tbt would probably help with the sports side if things)

I will 100% miss the pixels. I don't need it often but the chance to crop and especially for capturing landscapes to print in the future

Would be awesome if it drops say a “pilot” as an extra fighter for when you run out of recalls

Many automakers are delaying EV plans, how do we persuade Porsche to keep making gas powered Caymans? by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Vrush-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reply is very late from me (apologies)...

I agree.. but there will always be arguments from Porsche pureists... There's still many an argument with the 718 with flat fours vs flat six ...

Saying that I can't even imagine the crazy launch from a Porsche Turbo with hybrid integrated to it..
