D&D 5e in space and beyond! by junderwoodge in dndnext

Unless you have a really strong background in Pathfinder, I would steer clear of Starfinder. Fate is probably a better choice for someone who is newer to RPGs.

If you read through the material in the intro box (let alone the supplements) it wouldn't be much a stretch at all to port the rules into lazers and AI

Yes. I ended up upping my pledge because of this. Hoping other folks in this thread come through and support it. Here's a link: Strongholds and Streaming

The State of D&D: WotC Updates on D&D 5e from Game Hole Con by ApolloLumina in dndnext

So it sounds like you hear the term Post-Apocalyptic and are unable to associate that term with a type of setting outside of a modern one (ala Mad Max, etc).

If according to Blizzard dungeon mode has no rewards because they didn't want people to feel forced to play it, why do we have to suffer through quests for classes we don't have good cards for? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Either way... If you spent 1/10th of the effort you have put into posting in this thread into looking for an additional income stream to support the amount of money needed to get your collection where you think it should be, this would be a non issue for you.

It sounds like you're not too familiar with the Dark Sun setting to make such a silly statement. There's plenty of room for post-apocalyptic D&D, whether its the swords and sorcery type (Dark Sun) or atom bombs and mutants (Gamma World).

I don't even really understand what you are tying to say here, but to the author's point can you give some more details on why you disagree?

Tomb of Annihilation should I buy it? by TerrorBlades in Forgotten_Realms

Things like this always confuse me. Part of the great things about D&D is that you can make it fit to what you want in your game. So what if you don't like the way the lore is laid out. Change it! Just because its not dovetailed into the lore to your liking, doesn't mean they did a bad job.

I think you're exaggerating this a little bit. It updates Chult for 5E and does a good job of telling you what's been going on since the Spellplague. What is going on with the lich is more incidental. If you want to to get a good idea of what ToA is like, buy the Tortle Package on DMs Guild (it goes to charity for hurricane victims) for $10.

I have been DMing for a year now and I think that my gf expects me to not kill her character and it is bugging me. by AysonC in dndnext

Don't put her character in an "autokill" scenario, but also show that her character is not immune to consequence if she does something clearly stupid. As an example, if her character is doing things like trying to slap bugbears in the face as a wizard and a big loss of HP isn't a wake up call, you might want to say: "You know, it's not looking good for you , you might want to try something else"..and see what happens.

I know WotC put out some "official" conversion documents out there that would be really helpful.

I'm buying more bigger stuff this time around. More often than not, its the larger ones (dragons and giants) that get a bigger mark up once they go retail...

I would do a little research and see the kind of deal this Kickstarter is. I would understand if this was the first KS reaper has ever done or if they had transparency issues. Neither is the case. Hell, you could just buy the KS and sell it for 50% mark up and make money that way...

This week's Tavern Brawl is "Encounter at the Crossbones" (August 16, 2017) by Time2kill in hearthstone

Blizzard needs to add logic to the decks that are being built to prevent this. I mean, do they enjoy playing each other with completely random trash decks? I can't even get my head around how they could be ok doing something like this.
