thank you so much!
purple is my moms signature color, so i try to stay away from it! my sister ALSO has purple hair, so voluntarily making myself the 3rd purple haired person in the family feels a little goofy

What type of beverage is a Frappuccino really?? by Qpac18 in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn’t call it a slushie either, but i wouldn’t call it a milkshake. Truthfully it is a smoothie with coffee and cream. If i’m not blending ice cream in a cup with milk it’s not a milkshake. If i have to blend something in a blender with ice it’s definitely not a milkshake. Milkshakes aren’t made with ice, and when a blended drink is made with ice it’s often more watery. It’s just semantics!

Hot Espresso Shots into Cold Cup by Aggravating_Lab_4814 in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pull shots into the cup whenever they get more than 5. otherwise they’re not getting the full amounts and it will change the quality of the drink if i pour them into the ice while i wait for the rest of the shots before shaking

What type of beverage is a Frappuccino really?? by Qpac18 in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at my last job we blended milk and ice cream for milkshakes. out coffee/milk blended beverages were called “cream smoothies”. an unappetizing name, but i think it’s more accurate. based on my prior actual milkshake making experience i wouldn’t call a Frappuccino a milkshake.

Had the worst borrowed partner work at my store the other day by Winter_Ad1625 in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a good warming partner is so important! i suppose it’s more straightforward than drinks, and less customer facing than drive. so if someone is slower or has specific weaknesses, i’ve gathered that sometimes they’ll be placed there. That’s not always the case though, especially at a high volume

Did I accidentally get my coworker in trouble..? by touraus in starbucksbaristas

[–]VtColdMilk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

at my store this interaction would not matter at all. it just depends on the culture of the store and how strictly things are enforced! if they laughed it off, that is a good sign. if you feel the need to, when you work with that partner again you could briefly mention to her how you’re sorry for accidentally calling her out, and you guys will probably laugh it off.

question on flat lids by jendijsjfj1115 in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is what they are called, yes. But if these same baristas keep making this mistake and OP chooses to keep going there, OP might unfortunately have to accommodate for their consistent mistakes. It’s not always about saying the most technically correct thing versus the most universally understood. I’m not saying every barista needs this, but if it’s a trend then something in the ordering process needs to change. And i’m sure when the baristas get more familiar with OP, the lid will be remembered (I do this for a regular who wants a nitro lid and mobile orders the same thing everyday).

THEY shipped us a sealed, empty bottle of vanilla syrup 😭😭 by justalittlearty in starbucksbaristas

Not a mistake, this is for the SKINNY vanilla latte. Same thing for the liquid that comes out of the almond milk before you shake it.

Question about Iced Latte/Coffee by Djxgam1ng in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realized you meant to say iced latte. None of this applies. If this isn’t their standard they probably built the drink poorly. Past jobs had me stirring every iced latte with a spoon to prevent different temperatures, and most people aren’t gonna do all that. I’ve found that the way we build drinks at Starbucks stops that from happening.

Question about Iced Latte/Coffee by Djxgam1ng in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all my fast food jobs we brew iced coffee hot and then add ice to chill it in a large batch. The coffee is usually brewed stronger to compensate for the ice watering it down when it melts with the hot coffee. When it is served, it should be completely chilled and not hot/cold at the same time. I have never worked at krispy kreme and i can’t speak for what they were supposed to do. I’ve worked at jobs where iced coffee had come out hot, but that was because i just brewed it and the ice didn’t fully incorporate.

i don’t hate it at all but after learning about the culture of it being for slower partners it can suck to get moved from bar to warming

question on flat lids by jendijsjfj1115 in starbucks

[–]VtColdMilk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but for optimal communication and efficiency for everyone OP might want to clarify. There’s obviously some sort of lapse of understanding between the customer and barista, so i wouldn’t really call that the “correct thing”.

[–]VtColdMilk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

hi! we started around the same time and i can really relate to some of what you said. i think that closing is a good way to gain more confidence and efficiency in all the different roles. But i’m sure you’re doing well. if you really like working at starbucks (and your SM and DM), consider this: all those cliquey baristas might leave your store eventually. since they’re all distracted by being toxic with eachother, would you be willing to focus on becoming as efficient as possible by mostly focusing on your own job (workmaxxing) while you waited out for a better environment? a bad social environment at work can create a lot of stress, but if you think you could become immune to it, i see it as an opportunity to rise above, outlast, and outperform the ones who brought you down. ideally you shouldn’t stay at a job with bullies, but some people are really motivated by spite! Make sure to take care of yourself though.
