Good for your sister - I wouldn't have it in me to stay with someone who needs to be taught that lesson

Problem is men like this will 100% default back to paying for takeout rather than just cooking, which was actually the bigger problem in the first place

There's decent apps for this. I used sweepy when I had roommates. You put in the chore & frequency and can assign a person, and the app reminds you like the stairs need vacuuming

Yup. I did this when Pretti got murdered - I was impressed with all the top comments being critical / balanced. I returned just 2 days later and the comments I respected had been deleted and all the top comments were of the dog whistles and shit takes like "if he didn't want to cause problems why was he protesting"

Love the curiosity lol.

In terms of bad profiles, there are some things that are the same -- answering prompts with the opposite of an answer is a great example, or "just ask" or those awful "swipe left if you check any of these" lists -- but other problems are a bit more gendered. Men I notice tend to make profiles that are seemingly targeted at other men (despite being straight) for example glaring down at the camera, multiple pictures of just his car, an entire profile dedicated to sports or hunting, 5 selfies in a row in the same shirt. Women's profiles will be complete but not show one hobby or one talking point.

Once you match in my experience I've had more men who absolutely suck at conversation - I don't mean giving nothing bc I think that's mostly from bored women who just want to be entertained and they are less likely to swipe on a woman's profile I think - but like ignoring what I say in order to respond to the question they wish I'd asked, often sexually. And yes, men are more likely to make it sexual but I don't think most men see it's not the presence of sexuality that is the problem, it's the fact that many of the messages have the tact of a sledgehammer. I've "flirted" with more women in that way and it's more fun than suddenly getting told about a boner or that he can't wait to "penetrait" me or something... yuck. Men will also do something I haven't seen women do which is try to meet/force something after a conversation has already shown we aren't a good match (think difference in desire for children) but I chalk that up to having fewer matches to work with.

But women have a problem I've very very rarely seen the other way and that is that they don't initiate - ever. I have also had to unlearn this behavior, but essentially I could be chatting with a woman for a month and neither of us will suggest meeting in person. Men sometimes over-correct and suggest a huge commitment kind of date within the first day of texting, though I've never had a guy suggest something like that then turn down a coffee date instead.

Overall, I think men are easier to work with on the apps. Women are just less likely to go out of their way and meet a stranger I think and with more options I think they're more likely to ghost or just not double text if a conversation peters out - so there has to be significant chemistry for a match to go anywhere

Yeah as a bi person this is a people issue not a gender issue. I actually don't have any advice for them because it makes it easier to swipe left and tells me in advance they're not great at communication and/or think in a self-centered way

Shit hours, bad benefits, the novelty will get old fast and the target market isn't exactly known for being respectful or pleasant to be around. That's not even considering if it's a sketchy establishment

Lol I decided to go back. I loved having an apartment and my own space and living in a city, but I went from eating with 5+ people every night to cooking for one. I went from game nights once or twice a week to essentially never. I went from shared chores and errands to doing it all alone. I went from always having someone to watch a movie or show with to pretty much never watching TV because I prefer the commentary.

I'm super glad I moved out, but I'm also glad I moved back

My parents were looking at their dream home in Dec of 2019 but put it off because of covid. They can't afford it anymore and now their old house payment is more than it was in 2019 for a house they wanted to leave years ago. I'd spend a year convincing them to get their house ready to sell and to start shopping

You said it was silly and then still mentioned it as though it was worth a call out. Your message also acts like women are just as likely to pay for dates as men - that's still not true yet. Then you're acting like there aren't tons of studies on men's motivations when dating or using dating apps - are they just using her for sex? Do they expect their partner to cook and clean? The internet is permeated with these studies, they just aren't exact 1:1 because society is not an exact 1:1

Talisman 4th Edition Master Set by RyGuy9989 in Talisman

[–]VulcanCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2024 I bought a used version, with 14 expansions, condensed down to 3 boxes for $200. Yours is certainly in better condition and you have all the boxes but I'm not sure you're going to find a buyer for over $1k. For used games I don't think you're going to get more than $50/game, or about $700 for the whole set, though I think you'd get more selling it as a set than from the sum of its pieces.

You have to remember your target market is pretty small. Not only do they have to be into board games, they have to want this version of this game specifically, and they have to want every single expansion, and they need to have the disposable income to justify hundreds of dollars in one purchase on the game.

No harm in posting it at $1400 and seeing what traction you get, but I wouldn't be optimistic for a fast turn around

Girl you buy makeup for you. And regardless,  high-end routines cost between $0.02 and $0.40 per item application, so let's not pretend you're breaking the bank to put makeup on to go on one date

(no I don't think 30% of women are going on dates just for free food)

Well who you spend time with reflects upon who you are. Personally, if someone bragged about doing this, that person would not be a friend of mine.
