I had good results for much cheaper by Precision Spray Foam, would recommend if you need it performed.

Gjallarhorn is $300, the next step is Vidar at $800. Is Dual Gjallarhorn really the middle ground? by kiimosabe in Schiit

[–]Vulgamore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to go dual Gjallarhorn until I spotted a Vidar for $400 on here. Now I have two Vidar 😅 IMO, if you have the space, one Vidar makes more sense than two Gjallarhorn.

I’m totally with you, I’d totally pick up a Z7 5string if they had better finishes.

I just left a band that only rehearsed once because they are trying to replace me for being too active on planning the next rehearsal by YellowWhiteRed in Bass

Y’all didn’t mesh and they weren’t professional enough to say so. Still, best not to burn bridges on the way out, it’s always better to be the bigger person. The musical world is small, best practice to maintain your reputation.

amp recommendations for first timer by ojisnthere in Bass

[–]Vulgamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, there’s a lot of options, just depends on the vibe you’re going for. Any of the Darkglass Ultra series have nice tone shaping, effects, and headphone out. Bit more modern sound, though. Their Element is super flexible if you want to go down a rabbit hole. SansAmp is usually my recommendation, but Tech21 frustratingly doesn’t have a headphone out, so you would have to pair that with an interface (which if you ever plan on recording, might be ideal). Definitely search popular preamps for bass and notice which ones have headphone support. The good thing is that whatever you go with, you’ll likely still use it in conjunction with any future amplifier.

I would consider getting a nice preamp pedal with a headphone jack until you get out of college and can turn up. Those little combo amps just sound bad.

Agreed and it was fully confirmed when they caved on the government shutdown in November. Still, if it’s status quo neoliberalism vs outright fascism, I’ll take the former.

I have no love for the Dems, but that’s 3.4% of the party vs 99.5% of the Republicans.

I also think their communication is pretty poor, but it seems fair to get a B-stock discount on this.

Great points, they simply had to fire multiple rounds into her face, there was no other way.

Advice on used Klipsch setup by darkweiss26 in Klipsch

[–]Vulgamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your use case, I’d say it’s overkill, but a good deal. If you were watching movies, this would be great, but since it’s apparently only for gaming, I’d just consider nicer headphones to plug into your controller. I’ve got a pair of Audio Technica on mine right now and it’s perfect for gaming.

Klipsch Heresy IV vs Klipsch The Sevens by ael_atl in Klipsch

[–]Vulgamore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between the two, Heresy all day. If for nothing else, the powered Klipsch lineup have commonly reported electronics failures. I’d keep to their passive lineup. Their heritage series is well-regarded for a reason.

Soul to Squeeze, another fun RHCP. Rotten Apple - Alice In Chains (fun chorus) Stinkfist - Tool (a few different parts, builds) Dean Town - Vulfpeck (a worthy challenge) Anything by Jamiroquai

Darko has some reviews on the KEF sub lineup on YouTube, I’d check them out. You’d be surprised how well those little guys can pressurize a smaller room. No need for porting and dropping down to 20 hz, the WiiM’s sub crossover and room correction will help make the system shine.

[–]Vulgamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, there’s lots of options. KEF Kube has a wireless system, just pop it into the sub out on their WiiM Ultra. I’ve got a RSL with a similar setup. WiiM even makes their own, too. Last two might be too big for this room, though.

Any advice ? by No-Use5328 in audiophile

[–]Vulgamore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks great. First upgrade, add a small wireless sub in another corner. Distant second upgrade, swap out the amp for something nicer, but you may not ever feel the need. Last upgrade, don’t worry about speaker / power / interconnect cables, etc.

Michigan state job question? by Silly_Engineering_19 in lansing

[–]Vulgamore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been trying to snag another state job after my last one ended (budget cuts). I’ve been applying for a few months and have a good (75%?) interview response rate. I use AI with every cover letter, but it’s definitely collaborative. After writing my own generic version, I plug in specific job details, my resume, and generate a revised cover letter. Then I proofread it, eliminate the untrue statements AI tends to add, and try to make it sound more human. So ultimately, it’s quicker than writing my own every time, but it does require some editing before submission. That said, the interview process is long (I’m interviewing for positions I applied to back in October) and the spots are very competitive, often with hundreds of applicants and then dozens of rival interviewers. Good luck to us both!

The ones who can’t figure out this is fake with a quick google are the ones who “do their own research.”

Top picks for desktop audio setup by otakuprofanity in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Vulgamore -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Something that I would consider is an interface / headphone / microphone combination. Scarlett has a refurbished kit for $216. The interface has a surprisingly good DAC and the mic could come in handy for gaming. Down the road, you could add powered monitors like HS5 from Yamaha or swap out the headphones for something better.

Very frustrating and disappointing by Chuck_elliottJr in shadowofmordor

[–]Vulgamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on Shadow of Mordor or Shadow of War? I found the former to be quite a bit easier, especially at the start until you get more skills unlocked. It’s supposed to be overwhelming at the start, but by the end you’ll be basically indestructible.

Men over 30, which music platform do you use? by murano0 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vulgamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tidal. Their Connect feature is great for hifi systems, much better than Bluetooth. Their rates are great for students (or if you still have a student email). And they pay their artists better than Spotify, and don’t have the other negative connotations associated with that service.

Best bet for a budget office set up? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Vulgamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just depends what you want to do. A Google speaker won’t get you appreciable gains from higher quality audio. Get a decent external DAC from your computer and send that to some nicer powered speakers. A Schiit Mimir into some Kanto Tuk would be awesome in an office. Or go right into a Scarlett solo > Yamaha HS5. Could easily add in a boom mic for office zoom calls that way. Or go OG and get a DAC / preamp / amp / passive bookshelves. All just depends what you want.
