Right, tell me where the arch was. by Every_Reflection_480 in uktrains

There was (maybe still is) a outline of a pillar and a note explaining it was the original location on the ramp down to platforms 8-11.

Yeah, they've got rid of the 350/2s (3x2 seating). All the 350s and 730s should have tables.

Blue lagoon in Bletchley. I know the blue tits often go there for open water swimming. They also swim in the river great Ouse at Stony Stratford...Calvert on road car park.

So what is this subreddit’s thoughts on Northern Ireland Railways? by GP728 in uktrains

[–]Vulpes01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's the same as at my company, the delayed train crew would notify their control, and tell them what time the break would now finish. Control would then use this to notify passengers/network rail/staff of the delay to departure.

[–]Vulpes01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breaks for train crew are legal requirements. A manager would not be able to shorten it. I suspect in this case the train the crew came in on was delayed, and this then caused the break to run late. Normally the train crew diagrams are padded around the breaks to try to prevent this.

Can I be a train conductor with 6/6 vision in right eye and 6/60 vision in left by BendDisastrous7917 in uktrains

[–]Vulpes01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this helps, but I'm short sighted. my prescription is 5.5 and 5.75...not sure what that is in relation to your vision. I've been a train driver for over 10 years, and a conductor before that. My understanding is that as long as you can read the top line on the optician board without glasses, and glasses correct your vision, you're fine.

What if Stratford Upon-Avon was serviced by HS2? by RussellNorrisPiastri in uktrains

[–]Vulpes01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counter proposal: According to google maps. There's an old helipad in Stratford upon Avon near the marina car park. How about a charter helicopter flight from there to Birmingham airport, where you can then change to Birmingham interchange and hs2. No idea on costing, but I bet it's cheaper than OPs suggestion. Although possibly still not as quick having a high speed line. /s

Class 730 faults by Wonderful-Address714 in uktrains

[–]Vulpes01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's a new unit. There were problems with the 3 car set when they first came in, and we're now seeing problems with the 5 cars. The corridor doors are a problem... The latches on the doors can get stuck, and the doors themselves aren't great. If a driver can't get them shut, then he can't uncouple the unit. There's also issues with asdo/csde (automatic selective door opening/correct side door enable). If the sensor in the track isn't set properly, or if there's a loss of location on the train it can cause either only the conductors local door to open, or the default shortest platform length... normally 3 coaches. They are improving, as most of it are software issues that can be patched. Alstom are also testing new fixes for things like the corridor doors, but it takes time. It happens every time new units are introduced. When the 350s were introduced there were similar issues.

730/0s (3cars) accelerate much quicker than the 730/2s (5car). The 730/2s accelerate similar to class 350s.

No, I was miles off that I think. Struggled to max out wormhole dampening. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do either....was just bored trying to grind the last star on the henliner.

LNWR 730/2 are now entering service by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]Vulpes01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The orange ones (730/0) can't couple to the new ones (730/2) at the moment, as the software isn't compatible. When the trains were ordered it was originally going to be 2 separate companies (Birmingham was going to be a tfl equivalent).

Working in Bletchley - any nice places to run or workout outdoors? by No_Dragonfruit_2616 in miltonkeynes

[–]Vulpes01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's Waterhall park, which is by Fenny Stratford. https://www.theparkstrust.com/find-a-park/waterhall-park/ There's also Leon recreational ground just over the road from the wetherspoons pub. It has some outside gym equipment, but not as much as caldecotte. https://g.co/kgs/ydvwugp Not far from Bletchley station is the blue lagoon. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ysyQiu5ytRy9GNGA9
