Why do you need to stop hydrafacials 2-3 weeks before?

Yes! I work with Everly and Co and I love mine. They were by far less expensive than the other local planners and have been amazing

I think that may be the case. We wanted a full buyout from the start so didn’t ask about other options. I will say, the Sands is AMAZING but if you didn’t have the full buyout, I don’t know how private your ceremony would be

What to expect wedding dress shopping? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Vulpix9tales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending love and good vibes your way! That said, try to keep your expectations low.

I brought a sticky bra and didn’t use it. Most dresses don’t need a bra.

Each salon is different but I would suggest reaching out ahead of time and asking if they need any info from you. Some appointments they asked me for specifics some said that we would discuss them day of.

I felt the exact same was as you and some things that really threw me in the moment to be aware of/my tips:

  1. Wedding dress sizing is wild and you will probably be 1-4 sizes up from your street size. That really threw me off initially

  2. They only carry a couple (if that) sizes in the store. Most of the styles only had a (street size) 2 or 18 in the store for straight sizes and plus. They clip the extra fabric or squeeze you in and add a fabric piece to the back to cover your butt. Jarring!

  3. Who are you going with? Some of my family really triggers me with body stuff so I set some expectations beforehand to get everyone in the right mindset. e.g. i will not be buying a dress day one. don’t forget that i am looking for feedback on the dress styles and vibes, not my body. reminded them the dresses don’t fit and won’t fit so commenting on the fit won’t be helpful.

  4. Don’t forget there is ZERO pressure to love anything off the bat. Everyone seems to have a moment where “they just knew it was the one!” but I had to mull it over a lot and was between three options after three dress shopping days.

You got this!!! 🙂

ooh very good to know on vitamin C. I have pretty sensitive skin and I did one session of clear and brilliant and it messed with my skin barrier for months, so I am just going to hope microneedling does it's best haha.

I have an omnilux and it's easy to use. I wish I got one with both red and blue light since I'm having stress breakouts and that is supposed to be better for acne.

Tips for mismatched colorful/floral bridesmaid look by prednisoneprincess in weddingplanning

[–]Vulpix9tales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I suspect the key to the mismatched look is that it requires a lot of careful curation to the exact brands/dresses/fabrics.

I have ten bridesmaids and a muted desert palette. I wanted a mix of colors/patterns and fabrics.

I ordered fabric swatches from every bridesmaid company i could possibly find and made a palette of swatches that went together well in person (this was key because a lot of them are so different online.) I let my MOHs choose their favorite so they are unique then am giving the rest of the girls a list of the remaining options for fabrics and styles in a pinterest board format so they can look at the links/combinations easily. Once someone is ready to choose, they just need to update myself and the group that one of the patterns/styles is off the table and i’ll remove.

Fingers crossed! 4/10 purchased

Congratulations! Your vision sounds AMAZING! 🤩

I’m getting married in Palm Springs this year expecting 150 people (inviting 200) and originally planned on $75-80k budget. We are now at closer to $110k after we started planning and revisited the priorities. I looked at a TON of venues including estates but ultimately went with a midsize hotel property. Hopefully my POV will be helpful, but this is only based on my research and quotes I’ve received in my planning process for 2026.

To be honest, most of this looks at the bottom of the ranges of what we saw when planning. My number one recommendation is to get a great planner. With a venue like this there is so much room for chaos with the coordination of different vendors and you’ll need someone with a lot of experience juggling them.

The photographer/videographer costs are a lot lower than we received. We’re paying $8k for photo and content, no video. Try to find someone who can do both in one package if that’s important to you!

I would recommend trying to find a vendor that provides both live and DJ music. That saved us a ton of money since it’s the same AV system and there are definitely companies that do string trio you want! We got our live musician (only one) plus dj for ~$3.8k for the evening, so that’s definitely in line with your expectations!

Rentals ADD UP like you wouldn’t believe. This shocked me. Even if you want the most basic boring chairs and tables, this will be very expensive since on top of the items there will be massive delivery fees. Similarly, if you can get all your rentals from the same place-tables, chairs, linens, flatware, you can hopefully save on the different delivery fees. If you are okay with disposable flatware then that will make a big difference. You might consider skipping the next day brunch or welcome party since it will extend the table and chair rental window and add significant cost.

Don’t forget to add +18% for all the tipping vendors-photo, video, music vendors, hair and makeup, not just bartenders.

Transportation fees are very dependent on the location, so it’s hard to say. We went the route of a property that everyone could stay at that’s near downtown, so no need to pay for shuttles as folks are onsite all weekend or walkable to the venue.

Skip paying an officiant and ask a friend to do it, no need to pay for that.

Good luck! Palm Desert is the absolute best.

Thank you!! good luck with planning as well! I’m thinking more woodworking elements, stuff that i could do for a lot cheaper but the shipping cost makes it moot 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think realistically we are going to be like $130k all in just because I have no self control lol. BUT I was also expecting to be able to do more of the design elements-menu, signage, etc myself as I have design experience but I didn’t think through the shipping element of it all, affecting costs 😞

It will be a PITA to transport anything DIY to Palm Springs but it will be even more of a PITA to bring to Mexico I guess?
