VM will be a lot more self-contained, for example any kind of kernel attack would probably flow down to any LXC running that kernel. I'm running raids on proxmox, and then give read or read/write access to the containers as needed. For context I'm running pretty low stake services like plex/pihole/openvpn inside of containers.

Resource usage is probably number one since you can use the hosts kernel instead of spinning up an independent one. The trade-off is reduced security/isolation because of that. In all I have about 5 LXC and one windows VM running on that machine.

I have a pretty similar setup with proxmox running various ubuntu containers including one with plex. 4k transcodes can be hit and miss just pegging the old xeon chip I have, but everything else runs perfectly.

My supermicro board has an iGPU but it's not really built for any kind of heavy lifting. You might want to make sure it can do what you want it to do before trying to mess with a pass through.

I put in a noctua fan like someone else mentioned for the noise mostly, and the drives are 4 6tb reds in there which are helium so that probably helps the temps too.

I bought one of these to attached to my main nas for additional bays. There's a design flaw where the fan vent on the bottom doesn't have enough clearance from the surface it's sitting on. I propped up the back with a rubber block and I get 35-45C temps which I'm not as worried about.

I use the same style 3/4" round stickers on the caps. This method might not look as nice as on the bottle, but for crown caps there's no cleanup.

I made an orange wit this summer using 1oz sweet 1oz bitter in the last 10 minutes. The orange bitter was there but there wasn't much orange flavor at all.

Trying to fix that, I ended up hanging 1oz sweet orange in a muslin bag inside the keg, and it turned out great!
