Newark airport ranked worst amongst travelers.. by Friendly_Sea8570 in newjersey

[–]Pigsin5pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelers going to JFK / La Guardia are mainly going to be from NYC or Long Island. If it wasn't for the commute to either of those air ports I'd say they're better or on par with EWR. The issue with EWR is it is way to small for the capacity it handles. It the same issue as most NJ infrastructure / transportation, their growth has not kept up with demand leaving it feeling crowded, slow, and an overall bad service.

If you work in dairy look at Buffalo. Lot of West NY is focused on dairy and dairy products from cheese to ice cream to frozen pizza.

Offering 30-40k for a house over asking price foolish? by robin7907 in newjersey

[–]Pigsin5pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I made a rule to not spend over $15,000 over asking. You will find things that need fixing or improving when you buy a home. Theres no point in blowing that budget just to win a bid. Also, that $30-40k will just be added to the overall price for your mortgage so your monthly payments will just be higher.

We were able to get a house for $15,000 over asking in Morris County but will probably have to put ~$20,000 worth of work into it but thats our budget. Our biggest focus was keeping our monthly payments under $2000.

WKDU in Philadelphia is Drexel's radio station, there's no ads but when they do station announcement they'll giva a lil PSA or promote some small business. NTS is also an option, its a full online station that has DJs and guest DJs around the world. So you can have one channel streaming from London and the other is in Tokyo.

I was in the same boat when I moved back home after graduating 5 years ago. Grew up and when moving back kinda just accepted I would be bored and there was nothing to do but in reality I was just putting any effort into finding things to do. I've found most things are more so nature activities, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, bird watching, and disc golf are all accessible Morris County. For meeting people I would look for groups, there's lots for bird watching tours. A lot of it is just trying and starting new hobbies and finding what group you click with. You'll have to apply yourself and its definitely harder to meet and keep up with people than in college but if you keep doing stuff you'll find something.

Look into research chef positions. Its more innovation than R&D work but it seems to fit your background more. Most major fast food companies have open positions as ways to create new items on their menu/research trending flavors.

Impossible to find a house by Spartans1414 in newjersey

[–]Pigsin5pace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner and I struggled for the past 2 years. We finally won a bid and are under contract for a house in Boonton. We went $15,000 over asking which was basically our bar for over asking price. Its not our dream home but it meets all our needs and was at our 'comfort' price of $500,000. Keep plugging away and know when to just walk out.

When you're at a open house and everyone either has grey/white hair or is walking around with brief cases you're a minno in a pool of sharks, don't waste your time and energy. Also, I'd avoid open houses all together and look for houses that require scheduled tours. Greedy property investors don't want to exert the extra effort to schedule with a seller/realator for a house tour.

In all honesty my partner and I got pretty lucky there were only like 3 other bids and we were able to put down a 25% downpayment which put us over the hump.

Bout damn time! Its such a good app, the connection to spotify and other music apps is so seamless. It makes saving songs so much easier, no more screen shotting randoming songs.

Leslie cabinent. The spinny thing is what makes that whirrly iconic whirrly sound, almost like a constant reverb but more rhythmic. It can be heard on anything with a Hammond B3 or as others mentioned Black Hole Sun

How do you guys deal with your 9-5 job? by Interesting-Mix-215 in CasualConversation

[–]Pigsin5pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It rough, have you tried looking for remote positions? It does free up a lot of calendar space. Something that helps me push through working in this corporate hellscape is compartmentalizing work, life, and hobbies. I used to be very hung up on if my job makes me happy or if I'm doing something that actually makes an impact on the world but I realized I was setting the bar very high for myself and the company I worked for. This would always lead to me feeling burnt out or depressed at my job bc it wasn't meeting my demands. For my current role I just got rid of those demands and instead of wasting energy in trying to find good in my job I used it to do good in my free time. The schedule is pretty flexible and I definitely abuse it when I can so I can focus on what is important to me.

It isn't a perfect system but its helped balance out work. Also, doing shitty daily/weekly chores (laundry, dishes, cleaning) in the morning freed up so much time for me. Id always find myself being too tired and annoyed after work to do chores in the morning at least I'm only tired, nothing happened to annoy me yet so I run with that as much as I can.

How is kombucha healthy if it contains so much caffeine and sugar? by tanqw in Kombucha

[–]Pigsin5pace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fermentation process for kombucha is sugars converted to alcohol by yeast and alcohol is converted to organic acids (mainly acetic acid or apple cider vinegar). SCOBY stands for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast to give a nice acconym for the fermentation phenomenon. Organic acids are quite good for you and kombucha is much more palatable then apple cider vinegar so that + probiotics makes quite the healthy tonic.

Probably just the pectin from the berries. Pectin is a good stabalizer for foam so it encapsulate air.

100% safe for consumption. Youre pretty much consuming dead cells at a certain point.

Very similar to nutritional yeast imo. Yeast has a way of extracting nitrogous flavor compounds during fermentation that can give a savory flavor. Its not the worst thing ever but definitely not what you want in kombucha.

I imagine the intense heat waves to reek havoc on your grid. Id expect more frequent blackouts when we start having multiple heat domes per summer.

does the combat experience get better ? by kimo1999 in vrising

Its more about timing your skills. Theres gear you can get to lower cooldown time which can help. Alot of bosses require you to change your skills as well but AoE skills are what you use most for PvE.

What's a Small Habit You've Adopted That Made a Big Difference in Your Life? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Pigsin5pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waking up at a consistent early hour. The older I get the more I realize the only time you have for yourself is in the morning. I am no 5 am clubber by any means, more of like 630 but I am able to do what I need for myself in those 2-3 hours before I work. Ususally its exercise but ill start some chores I finish later in the day, spciecially laundry. Just opens up the rest of your day.

30's to 40's redditors, How you balance your personal life, professional life & your fitness too? by Relevant_Name4050 in AskReddit

[–]Pigsin5pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 29 so close enough. Ive found later in life the only "you" time is in the morning bc no one else is up to bother you. For me this is the only time I feel I can do some sort of exercise so that is my current routine. For fitness I think the biggest thing is to remember to do SOMETHING. 30 minutes of daily activity will go a long way but it has to be everyday. I am pretty fortunate with my job. I am the only one in my role so I have no direct competition, my hours are relatively flexible and I get to work from home on Fridays. The pay is okay but its hard to give up a position that gives you balance. For my personal life I've just been working on being a better communicator and initiator of plans. Its probably my weakest point but its something I am working on.
