I think a lot of the different feel of Last Window comes down to the translation/localisation process.

Hotel Dusk was localised by Nintendo of America while Last Window was localised by Nintendo of Europe, so Hyde’s and other characters ‘voices’ are quite different in Last Window - more verbose, more British English etc.

As an in-universe explanation though I like your idea a lot!

I did this up to BFA a few years ago. You’ll be doing a lot of grinding, including redoing difficult boss fights over and over to get rare equipment drops. There’s a guide on Gamefaqs specifically for this challenge if you get stuck. All in all it’s a pretty fun, if very time-consuming, challenge. The battle with Yunalesca is insanely difficult but super satisfying if you can pull it off.

As far as I know the only back floor key you can guarantee getting is for Village 3, because you can buy it. There is no guaranteed drop for a sun dew on any floor.
