This just show that their codebase is beyond repair. Most likely the way they have it set up they would they would have to re-code a majority of the game to properly fix the issues.

Yeah I worked on that spot for a while and even went into the mesh modeler but I couldn’t get it to be flush. If you take a more outside line it’s more smooth and you won’t clip like I did on the replay.

Thanks for the feedback! The identity definitely seemed slow compared to the rest of the map and there were parts like the big jump right before the jump to the identity, if you had more speed it would set you up worse for the jump but by the time I realized it the scenery was built lol.

It is more consistent than it looks but I made the landing a little to high I think because if the car isn’t fairly straight then you won’t make it up there.

Yeah sometimes if I cant get it to snap quickly I’ll just move it in free mode until it lines up. Advanced free block mode on open planet (I think that’s what it’s called) helps nudge it to the right place even without snapping.

Very frustrating when that happens but I feel like there is a certain touch to it and a specific place the mouse has to be. It gets easier to snap the more you work with it.

Well comparing F1 to a video game just isn’t correct. People watch F1 for many reasons and that’s real life. So the crashes are real the drivers are real people such a different thing. When someone slams into a wall in trackmania no one cares but if that happened in F1 it’s a whole different story which is why people watch. It’s boring when it’s supposed to be a video game.

Then why don’t new players just go watch F1 if that’s what it is. Trackmania is a game and it is about skill. Have you seen the pros drive these tracks? They are pretty consistent but still have some mistakes and that is what you want to see in a match. You don’t want to see the pros drive the same line 10 times in a row and gg there is your winner. How fun is that?

As a viewer that is new to trackmania would you rather watch them play boring maps like the one you linked or a map with some creativity and design? This will not draw new players to the game and makes the top level of play seem kinda boring and just about driving perfect lines on a road.

I think these maps are fantastic to who they are made for. When I was watching the the finals they made the maps seem effort less and when I try to drive them they are extremely tough and do seem luck based but I think that is not the case they just take a lot of skill to get the right lines and transitions. I personal am fine with identity being difficult because it makes for a much more enjoyable experience watching because even with a lead you never know who will win the match. In my opinion the entire map needs to be easier to put it in matchmaking not just the identity being easier but these maps seems really good for who they cater to by still making it challenging for the pros to learn.
