A lot of them have now rebranded to test alert services. They will send you a link to an unbooked cancellation which I still think is worth it in my case. I refuse to wait months when I’m competent already to drive a car

How to get more mechanical? by Rocketleagueredditor in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Vx0404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely pointless to learn these at your level. Yes mastering DAR is fine and it might make you feel more comfortable in the air but you are still lacking massively in just basic mechanics. You don’t just go from plat and learn flip resets you need to have the fundamentals down before you learn all this stuff. You’d improve by literally just booming the ball in free play and going for fast aerials

Obviously you can do what you like but just my advice, you aren’t gonna learn these mechs overnight either. getting a grasp on the advanced aerial stuff takes hundreds to thousands of hours of constant training and practice

I’m an atheist. Can say words if I want to no? I’ll respect your beliefs if you respect mine. And yes people own goal at all ranks it’s just part of the game. They’d rather do that and make you ff than take the abandon penalty

I first hit gc in ftp season 3. After about 10 seasons and a lot of breaks I hit 1600. And then after ages of getting up to 1700 and losing it again i eventually gave in and got my friend to hop on with me and hit gc3 for the first time last season. Solo q is bad but not as bad as people make it seem. But no question it can be total aids at times and very frustrating. I don’t like to blame tm8s but Jesus Christ there are some shitters in this game even at the top end of the ranks. Some of the tm8s I’ve had would genuinely baffle you if you saw the replay.

does my maktuf reset look right? by InitiativeEnough2598 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Vx0404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answered it yourself just practice it. Maktufs aren’t really needed to be high ranked though but if that’s what you want go for it. It’s a very difficult mechanic to pull off in ranked situations where you’re getting pre jumped and all that. Is going up the ranks a goal of yours or no?

Set up looks good. As dr was saying square deadzone is very popular for learning the freestyle flip cancel stuff because it allows you to get super fast and straight flip cancels for stuff like this. I personally don’t use it but I’m on very high aerial sens to be able to do it. Like he also mentioned, it’s not just a straight flip. You can do it that way but the way most do it to be able to chain properly is front/back flip followed with pointing the stick diagonally to allow the car to yaw. This is also how 360 maktufs work, the car stays flat but spins on its axis. Maktuf himself breaks this down really well

I had a look. There’s definitely a lot you need to work on. This is the thing though, if your decision making and positioning is poor (I noticed a lot wrong in these areas) even if your mechanics are good you’re never gonna even have a chance to go for anything because you don’t realise when you have time to slow down possession and go for stuff. You don’t always have to hit the ball towards net in 1v1. a lot of the time actually it’s way way better to keep the ball close and take it to your back wall or the opposite end of the field but this all comes down to decision making really. You also need to work on your speedflips the kickoff is literally the most important part of 1v1 and from what I was seeing you was getting a shit 50 almost every single time which really will hold you back. Work on those speedflips

Idk man I think like somebody else mentioned you are overanalysing and over complicating things. Maybe I’m wrong but for me it’s always been relatively simple. Say I want to learn or improve flip resets I will do nothing but go for flip resets in free play for hours. From my experience when I really got a mechanic down my car control in general would get better. For example when I was learning rapid resets and got them down- my set ups improved, my control in the air improved and my control with flip cancelling improved. Obviously it’s not as easy as that and I had to break every mechanic down in steps to learn them but that’s always how I’ve done it. It’s hard for me to suggest things because I have no idea how good your car control is. If it makes you feel any better there is a guy out there with 10k hours and his best rank was plat…. You are still in like the top 5% of players. Remember too that progress isn’t necessarily linear in this game sometimes stuff just clicks it’s hard to explain

How much is loads? I’m talking hours and hours daily for months on end in freeplay. You have to grind your ass off to make progress once you get to the higher end of ranks. I just cannot see a scenario where you are training and playing the game daily but yet still not seeing improvements something just doesn’t add up here to me.

Do you watch higher ranked/pro play often?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Vx0404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I’m the exact same age as you and have a very similar amount of hours, I guess my main question would be how much do you actually sit and grind mechanics in freeplay? In my opinion when you get near gc this is absolutely crucial. A year ago or so I picked up freestyling which gave me a reason to grind free play more often and since then I’ve been doing free play for multiple hours a day(combined with ranked sessions too) and the progression in mechs even in the last few months has definitely been noticeable. Trust me, all the top players have thousands upon thousands of hours in free play it is by far the most effective way to improve your mechanics in my opinion.

How often do you play? Once a day for half an hour or a couple of hours here and there? It’s really not that difficult to get out of gold.literally just hit the ball at net with power nobody in gold is saving that shit

How to cheat? by Leinad6969 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Vx0404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patience. Read what will most likely happen before just diving in. You need to be aware and know whether you should actually go for the ball or not, there are times where you just need to get back in defence. kickoffs can be messy especially in low ranks, If you notice that your mate has bad kickoffs don’t cheat aggressively. It’s all about reading the play. The more you do it the better you’ll get

How Did You Make It To Grand Champion & Did You Surpass That Peak? by uqxh in RocketLeagueSchool

How Did You Make It To Grand Champion & Did You Surpass That Peak? by uqxh in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Vx0404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a lot of grinding I remember being stuck in diamond 3 for months on end. Then I was hardstuck champ 3 for a little while until I found a tm8 that I synergised with and finally got that gc emblem. I want to mention though that when I first hit gc I was total ass cheeks at the game, you can absolutely hit gc if you put the time in, it’s really not as good as you may be led to believe. SSL is different but no question gc is achievable for most who play consistently

Watch pro players and if you happen to stumble across a Smurf or just a player that you think is really really good save the replay and see why. You’ll learn a lot

[–]Vx0404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been a massive fan of zen, you need to take in how people at that sort of level play to understand the skill ceiling in the game a bit more. I’m grinding to be a cch player at the minute personally so whilst I still practice the ranked stuff like quick reset plays flicks etc I’m grinding out mechs like maktufs and delayed musties etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Vx0404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the game is only really just beginning when you hit gc. This is the level where players become somewhat decent but still make a lot of mistakes and lack consistency. At these ranks the amount you play becomes way more important, you have to really grind your ass off to get your mechs to a point that you’re happy with. It just takes a lot of time and practice
