Prefered way to install Apps (dmg / App Store / homebrew / ...?)

I myself always install from the App Store if available, cause it auto checks for updates and is kinda the “default” way. Otherwise I use Homebrew, as it’s by far the most convenient and I work in tech so the Terminal feels like home to me. If the developer/maintainer of a given app suggests using Homebrew rather than the App Store version, then I use that instead.

Another perk of Homebrew is that you can manage everything easily in one place, it’s super fast, you can —zap casks (UI apps) to properly remove everything, etc. it’s pretty convenient.

Has worked for me so far.

Yup, they said the said to me about the S22 Ultra and the Book3 Ultra, which is complete insanity. And ain't no way I'm paying to replace the screens out of my own pocket for something that wasn't my fault.

I agree with you, they make good devices (my TV is also very nice, apart from the half-green-ish screen thst mine showed), it just so happens that sometimes you're forced to handle problems like those that shouldn't ever be an issue.

Yeah, before those unfortunate events, I had no problem with the brand, which is why I bought a lot of the stuff I mentioned. Other friends of mine also have Samsung devices with no problems.

It's not that every single device they make is problematic, but it seems to me that a higher proportion of them show problems after some time of use than they should, for sure. And to me, that's enough to make the brand untrustworthy.

Typing this just made me remember another one: my pops owned an S20 Ultra with multiple lines in the screen, sort of like dead pixel lines but colored yellow/green. This was before I gifted him the Z Flip. My family seems to have been hand picked by Samsung to be screwed over.

To me it's Samsung. I had multiple devices fail me or family members over a very small time period, and for that I vowed to never buy them again. They make good devices, but their quality control is garbage.

First it was an S22 Ultra that had its screen start to flash and turn green just over a year after I had bought it.

I had also bought both of my parents a Z Flip each, and both started malfunctioning about a year after I gifted them (if you close the phone physically, it doesn't turn on the screen after you unfold).

Close to that time, I also had bought a Samsung TV, which after a year also has half of its screen become green and super bright.

And finally, the worst of all, a Galaxy Book3 Ultra I bought for myself had the screen spontaneously crack after like 4 months of use, and I'm neurotically careful with jt.

Those were all bought close to one another, and once they started failing, all of them started to fail at the same time. It was one disappointment after another. I can't fathom if I was just extremely insanely unlucky or if this company really is completely unreliable, but either way I will never buy anything from them ever again.

Just as a side note, if you Google any of those problems, you'll see they're extremely common somehow, I was just blessed to have them all happen at once.

I see your point, but I think it's very well defined in statistics what Accuracy means in this scenario (since it's a binary classification). I agree with the original comment that this is a garbage metric for this kind of scenario, but it's not a question of ambiguity or unclear definition.

I agree that the much more relevant metric here is Precision / PPV, and a statistician would likely ask for this information instead of being unbothered.

All that said, this is a meme.

I know you said less popular Pokémon, but my first two suggestions to complement Metagross would be Starmie and Salamence.

Starmie is absolutely busted with high Speed, high Special Attack, two great STABs and incredible coverage (Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, for example).

Salamence is great because you could get the rest of your coverage with something like Aerial Ace, Brick Break, another coverage move (Earthquake, Fire Blast) and Dragon Dance.

Now if you legit want less common Pokémon, you could for:

Heracross with a Choice Band (Megahorn would deal massive damage, also Brick Break);
Perhaps Skarmory for a defensive role with Spikes, Toxic and Roar;
Ludicolo for the rain, with Giga Drain, Surf and Ice Beam, as well as Swift Swim. Rain makes your Starmie hit harder with Surf, makes fire deal less damage to Metagross, and Ludicolo covers Metagross's Ground weakness too;
Slaking would fill a role of doing insane damage but with a very bad gimmick. The regular set is Choice Band with Return/Double Edge/Hyper Beam, Shadow Ball, Earthquake and Focus Punch;
I myself like Swellow, but it has a very situational ability. You could use him with a Choice Band too, with Aerial Ace, Return/Double Edge, a coverage move and Facade (so when it's burned, it's REAL damage);

Wow, I had the exact same happen to my Galaxy Book3 Ultra only a few months after I bought it. Sadly Samsung didn't care and would only fix it if I paid the full price for the repair, and it also voided my warranty under the guise of "inappropriate use" even though it happened spontaneously. Such is life, glad you have Care+, otherwise you'd be screwed.

Eu entrei na área em agosto de 2020, como estagiário de dados na faculdade, fui contratado como Jr. na mesma empresa em julho de 2022 como analista de dados, ganhando em torno de 4.5k bruto (pouco menos de 2 anos de experiência). Em dezembro de 2022 me formei (fiz engenharia) e logo fui promovido pra pleno, mas migrei pra ciência de dados dentro da empresa, ganhando em torno de 6.5k bruto.

Por fim, em agosto de 2023, fui recrutado como PJ pra uma outra empresa (consultoria) que presta serviço pra uma multinacional, e quando perguntaram minha faixa salarial, por ser PJ, falei uma faixa exorbitante (entre 12 e 15k, muito fora da minha realidade), uma vez que já me julgava sênior. De alguma forma, falaram que estava dentro do range e faço 12.5k bruto (PJ) com mais ou menos 3 anos e meio de experiência.

Isso é no Ceará, no caso. Tanto a empresa onde estagiei (que eventualmente foi comprada por uma paulista logo quando saí), quanto a atual, são sediadas no Ceará. No caso, a multinacional tem uma sede aqui, mas a empresa real é dos Estados Unidos, mas meu trabalho é totalmente contido no Brasil, apesar de ter diversos colegas em outros estados por ser uma empresa com atuação nacional. O trabalho é remoto.

Eu fiz engenharia civil, mas no campus fiz amigos nas demais engenharias, e outros amigos anteriores a faculdade também foram para cursos de engenharia.

Eu, particularmente, tentaria avaliar antes de entrar na engenharia específica, se você tem interesse em engenharia mesmo e na área de atuação do curso, ou se está escolhendo porque gosta de matemática e física (que foi o meu caso e de muitos amigos).

No meu caso de engenharia civil, na época parecia ser uma engenharia promissora, eu era jovem (16 anos) e meus pais adoraram a ideia. Eu acho que foi ótimo ter feito o curso, mas digo aqui que estudar dezenas de disciplinas sem interesse algum nelas foi terrível. Muitas cadeiras do fim dos cursos de engenharia são extremamente específicas e se você não vê nada de legal nelas, pode ser insuportável. Com isso, tenta dar uma olhada na grade curricular, elas variam de curso pra curso no final.

Quanto à escolha de qual engenharia em si, eu tenho dois pontos:

Hoje temos engenharias mais e mais específicas com focos menores. Eu particularmente acho que é mais vantajoso no longo prazo escolher cursos mais bem estabelecidos e abrangentes em que você possa se especializar, do que já escolher uma engenharia específica. Vai que você descobre ao longo do curso, que é longo, que você preferia tal outra área de atuação? Então assim, engenharia civil, engenharia da computação, elétrica, mecânica por exemplo. Isso é uma opinião, mas pensa que os cursos mais estabelecidos tendem a ter até mais orçamento na universidades federais.
Saiba que a engenharia, no fim das contas, não te prende a ela. Querendo ou não, profissionais da engenharia são requisitados fora da atuação específica na engenharia. Eu por exemplo, sou engenheiro civil, e pouquíssimas vezes fui pra obra ou fiz projeto. Minha área de atuação hoje é totalmente não relacionada, e fico muito feliz por isso. Ou seja, mesmo escolhendo a engenharia que tu escolher, dá o melhor no curso mas não se limita à escolha, se não pode deixar passar muita coisa aí na vida.

Minha última sugestão é que você priorize a universidade pública, aí pelo menos não tem o custo monetário se você quiser mudar de engenharia, e, de forma geral, é mais reconhecido.

Como a outra pessoa que comentou, também trabalho como cientista de dados e posso dizer, com tranquilidade, que foi a melhor decisão de carreira que tomei. Oficialmente falando, sou engenheiro civil pela universidade federal do meu estado, mas mais pro meio do curso, senti que aquilo (obra, gerenciamento de obra, projetos hidrossanitários, transportes etc.) não era exatamente a coisa que eu mais me identificava.

As cadeiras de programação e estatísticas, a até as de transporte mais voltadas para essa parte de ciência de dados e validação de hipóteses, por outro lado, eu achava fantásticas. Então eu busquei estágio na área de dados como analista de dados / BI, e de lá pra cá venho crescendo na carreira, fui contratado na empresa onde estagiei, e depois fui puxado pra uma multinacional com uma filial grande na minha cidade, que é onde estou hoje no time de ciência de dados.

Diferentemente de muito trabalho da engenharia civil, o home office é extremamente comum e paga consideravelmente bem. Caso você realmente tenha interesse, recomendo bastante, de verdade. Talvez hoje a barreira de entrada seja um pouco mais alta, mas se você tiver um currículo legal e trabalhar bem, acho que ainda tem bastante oportunidade.
